On April 9th, Volkswagen will be finally launching the much-needed facelifted iteration of its popular mid-size SUV, the Taigun, in India. This SUV has been spotted testing on public roads for a long time now. However, just before its official launch, recently a fully undisguised production-spec Taigun facelift has been seen parked on the side of the road. What makes it more interesting is that it was a left-hand-drive vehicle.
The video of the Volkswagen Taigun facelift left-hand-drive has come courtesy of Rev Wheels Media on their page. We can note that the entire vehicle is undisguised. It is finished in the shade of Flash Red, and from the badges in the rear, it can be seen that it is the GT variant of the Taigun facelift.
This particular video starts by showing the rear end of this vehicle, which is equipped with the similar-looking LED taillights as seen on the current model. However, eagle-eyed viewers will be able to note the key difference. We can observe that the internals of this particular vehicle's taillights are completely new and will get a connecting light bar in the middle.

Additionally, the rear bumper of this vehicle is also new, and being the GT variant, it does not get any chrome details. The video then starts showing the left profile of the Taigun facelift. It can be noted that this particular SUV will get a set of new 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels in the GT variant.
However, the standard higher-spec variants are expected to get dual-tone alloy wheels, and lower variants will get smaller 16-inch silver alloy wheels. Apart from these, the entire side profile looks almost exactly the same as the current model.

The main highlight of the new Volkswagen Taigun facelift is its all-new front fascia. We can note that it gets a set of new, sleeker LED headlights, which also have LED DRLs on top of them. Both of these headlights are connected by an LED DRL in the middle.
Additionally, this time around, the Taigun facelift is also getting an illuminated Volkswagen logo on the front. This particular fascia design has taken inspiration from the recently launched Tayron R-Line and the Tiguan.

Apart from the fully undisguised exterior, the video also gives us a glance of the interior of this SUV. We can note that it was finished in black color. As for the overall layout, it looks almost exactly the same as the current model. The list of feature upgrades which we can expect will include a bigger 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, a panoramic sunroof, massaging seats in the rear, ventilation, and a few others.
Once launched, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift will also be getting the same 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine capable of making 114 PS and 178 Nm of torque. This time around, the standard gearbox will be the 6-speed manual as in the current model. However, instead of the 6-speed torque converter automatic, the company will be offering the 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Meanwhile, the GT lineup will be getting the 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine, which makes 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. However, this time around, there will be no manual gearbox available. This engine will only be offered with the 7-speed DSG gearbox. Once launched, it will be taking on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Renault Duster, and the newly facelifted Skoda Kushaq.
A number of people might be wondering why this particular vehicle is left-hand-drive. Well, the answer to this is that Volkswagen also exports Taigun and Virtus to many other countries from India. So, most likely, it is an international-spec model which has been brought out on the roads for some testing.
