Volkswagen recently launched the updated Taigun in the market, and media drives for the same have just concluded. Detailed reviews are expected to start surfacing on social media platforms very soon. However, we believe the Taigun is not the only launch Volkswagen has planned for India this year. Let’s take a look at what the rest of the year could look like for Volkswagen in the market.
Volkswagen has just launched the Taigun, and the next expected launch in the market is likely to be the Virtus facelift. This mid-size sedan from Volkswagen replaced the Vento and has performed quite well in terms of sales.

In fact, it even became the best-selling sedan in its segment. The Virtus is currently undergoing testing and is expected to receive a facelift, similar to the Taigun. The sedan has been spotted multiple times, and based on the images and videos available online, it looks like Volkswagen will offer a revised front end.
This could include updated headlamps, a redesigned grille, LED DRLs, and possibly even an illuminated logo at the front and rear. Other expected updates include new alloy wheels, a revised bumper, and updated tail lamps.
The Virtus is expected to offer a feature set similar to the newly launched Tayron. It will likely continue with the same engine options - a 1.0-litre TSI engine producing 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TSI engine will generate 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque and will be offered with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The Tayron R-Line is currently the flagship SUV from Volkswagen in India. While the current version is the top-spec R-Line variant focused on performance, Volkswagen is also planning to introduce a lower-spec, non-R-Line version of the Tayron in India.

While the R-Line variant is priced at around ₹47 lakh (ex-showroom), the lower-spec version is expected to be priced below it. It will be powered by the same engine as the R-Line but will likely produce lower power and torque figures.
This version is also expected to miss out on some of the premium features offered in the R-Line variant, making it a more accessible option for buyers.
Volkswagen launched the Golf GTI in India last year, initially bringing in 250 units. All of them were sold out almost immediately. Encouraged by the overwhelming response to this expensive hot hatchback, Volkswagen has decided to bring in a second batch.
Several Indian celebrities, especially from South India, along with automotive enthusiasts, have already purchased this hatchback. The next batch of Golf GTIs is expected to arrive in India soon, and like the first batch, it will be brought in as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).

This new batch may include a few additional features that were not available in the first lot. However, it is also expected to be slightly more expensive.
The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 265 bhp and is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Apart from the cars mentioned above, Volkswagen is also working on a sub-4 metre SUV, which will be based on the same platform as the Kylaq. The brand reportedly took this decision after observing the Kylaq’s success in the segment.
This upcoming SUV is expected to feature a design inspired by the Tera and will be powered by the same 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with a manual and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The sub-4 metre SUV is expected to be launched in the coming years.
