Electric vehicle segment has been seeing a lot of tech and innovation lately. While we have mainstream brands coming up with futuristic and premium-looking EVs at affordable prices, there are several Indian start-ups that are actually working on entry-level city EVs. One such brand is Pune-based Vayve Mobility, and they had showcased a very unique-looking electric vehicle called Eva at the Auto Expo last year. What made this EV unique was that it came with a solar panel on the roof. Here we have a video that gives us a quick walkaround of the Vayve Eva.
The video has been shared by Rahul Kulkarni Official on their YouTube channel. In the video, the vlogger talks to the co-founder of Vayve Mobility from Pune. In this video, the vlogger and the co-founder have a conversation about the vehicle and what it offers in terms of features.
The Vayve Eva is India’s first solar-assisted electric vehicle. What this means is that, apart from regular charging, this EV can also generate some power from the solar panel installed on the roof. The exterior design of the car is similar to other EVs that we have seen in the past. In fact, it looks somewhat like the old Mahindra Reva EV.
The founder mentions that their aim was to create an EV that is suitable for the city to solve issues like parking and traffic congestion. The car is 3 metres long and 1.5 metres wide. The vlogger even sits inside the car and checks out the space, and he was actually surprised to see the amount of space this small car offered.

This is a 3-seater electric car which can seat 2 adults and a kid. Coming to the design and features, the main attraction or unique thing about this particular EV is the solar panel on the roof. The founder mentions that this is a 1-square-metre solar panel on the roof, and it can actually generate enough electricity to drive the car for around 10–12 km. The solar panel generates roughly around 1 unit of electricity per day.
The Eva electric car is available in multiple battery pack options. As per the information available online, there is a 9 kWh battery pack which offers a claimed range of 125 km. Then there is a 12.6 kWh battery pack which offers 175 km, and the biggest battery pack is the 18 kWh, which offers a maximum claimed range of 250 km.
The interior of the Eva looks minimalistic, with a gloss black panel which includes the digital display and touchscreen infotainment system. It comes with a Nexon EV-like digital rotary knob gear selector, and it also comes with AC. If you opt for a version without the solar panel, then the car would get a panoramic sunroof. The car gets drive modes too.
The car is still not officially launched, and the brand plans to do that by 2027. It is expected to come in three variants, as mentioned above, and they are expected to be priced around the Rs 4–6 lakh price bracket.
