Toyota Kirloskar Motor India is planning to launch a new SUV in India. This particular SUV will be the Toyota Corolla Cross, which is currently sold in many international markets. As per the reports, it will be making its debut by 2028 or by early 2029. Now, based on the international-spec model and reports of how the upcoming Corolla Cross SUV will look, a rendering has been shared online.

First off, let's start with the exterior design details of the upcoming Corolla Cross SUV. Unlike the current-generation model sold internationally, this particular rendered SUV boasts a very bold and aggressive front design. It features a large hexagonal honeycomb grille with sporty detailing and a prominent GR (Gazoo Racing)-inspired badge.
As for the headlights, it features sharp and sleek LED headlamps with segmented DRL elements and a multi-layered lighting signature, giving it a futuristic and premium appearance. Other notable highlights include a sculpted front bumper with large air intakes, which add to the SUV’s muscular stance. Also, the strong bonnet lines add a rugged and upright SUV character.
Moving to the side, we can observe that the Toyota Corolla Cross will continue to have sharp and aggressive styling with a macho SUV-like silhouette with strong body lines. There will be multiple cuts and creases, and to add to the rugged appearance, it will get chunky side claddings as well. This particular rendered model has been given large 10-spoke alloy wheels as well.

Like the front, the rear end of this upcoming Toyota SUV will be aggressive. It will get a sloping roofline, an integrated roof spoiler, sleek LED taillights, and a black-cladded rear bumper with a dark grey skid plate. Now, before everyone gets too excited, we have to mention that this particular vehicle seen in the image will not be the final production version. It could be possible that Toyota may tame down the aggressiveness.
As per the reports, the Toyota Corolla Cross SUV is expected to make its debut in India by 2028-29 and will be based on the TNGA-C platform, which is the same as the Innova Hycross. It will be a seven-seater SUV with a wheelbase of around 2,790 mm. It most likely will be manufactured at Toyota's new manufacturing facility in Aurangabad.
In terms of the features, this SUV is expected to offer a large touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, electrically adjustable seats, seat ventilation, a multifunction steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof. Other notable highlights will include cruise control, a digital driver display, connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a JBL audio system.

Powertrain options of the Toyota Corolla Cross will include a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol, which will produce 173 bhp and 209 Nm torque and will come mated to a CVT gearbox. Later in the future, it could also get a 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol making around 183-186 bhp combined and 206 Nm.
Once launched, it will compete with the Hyundai Tucson and the Jeep Compass. As for the pricing, it will also overlap with Hyundai Alcazar, Jeep Meridian, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari.
