Tata Motors has recently seen a lot of success with the launch of the Sierra mid-size SUV. And one of the biggest reasons behind the success of this SUV is its iconic nameplate. Now, Tata Motors has another iconic nameplate which, if it makes a comeback, can add to the sales surge that Tata Motors is seeing. We are talking about the Tata Sumo. Recently, we have created a few design renders which give us a glimpse of what the new generation of Sumo SUV could look like if Tata Motors does decide to launch it again.

The Tata Sumo is one of the most legendary SUVs which Tata Motors sold in India. It was one of the favourite SUVs in the rural markets of India, and we were wondering what it would look like if it makes a comeback in India. As a result, we have designed these Tata Sumo renderings. Now, starting at the front, the new generation Sumo will most likely continue to offer a butch-looking fascia.
This particular rendered iteration boasts a large front grille with the Tata logo in the middle surrounded by chrome. Also, like most modern SUVs in India, this model also features a connected LED DRL at the front. As for the headlights, they are very sleek and feature C-shaped LED DRLs which also surround the projectors inside the headlight. As for the front bumper, it looks very bold and muscular and features a massive silver skid plate.

Moving to the profile, this rendered version of the Sumo stays true to its heritage as it features a boxy silhouette. It looks very strong and its overall stance is very imposing. We can note that this model features wide and squared wheel arches and large 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres.
It also has been imagined with large windows and a tall window line which will bring in a lot of light inside the cabin. Other notable highlights of this model include simple pull-type door handles, pronounced roof rails, and an overall butch style. All of these elements remind us of the original Tata Sumo, which became famous for its imposing styling and road presence.
A rendering of how the rear end of the Sumo could look has also been created. We can note that this particular rear end, although it looks very modern, still gives a nod to the original Sumo's rear end. This particular version features a large rear windshield with a rear wiper, washer, and defogger setup, C-shaped LED taillights with pixelated LEDs, and a chunky rear bumper with a large silver skid plate.

At the moment, Tata Motors has not shared any plans which indicate the launch of the Sumo. This means that sadly we will not be seeing the Sumo make a comeback anytime soon. However, if Tata Motors does decide to bring it back, it should definitely bring it as a proper ladder-frame SUV with a 4X4 system. Currently, the only vehicle with an all-wheel-drive system in Tata Motors' lineup is the Harrier.ev.
On the other hand, Mahindra Automotive, which is the direct rival of Tata Motors, has multiple ladder-frame SUVs with 4X4 systems. So if Tata Motors does actually launch the Sumo with a modern design but real SUV mechanicals, it could have a big seller on its hands. Now, we will have to wait and watch if Tata Motors does get inspired by this rendering and launches a new 4X4 SUV in India.
