Tata Motors is currently selling the newly launched mid-size SUV Sierra like hot cakes. However, the company has not yet disclosed the official Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)-certified mileage figures of this SUV, which is offered with three engine options. Thankfully, recently, a Right To Information (RTI) was filed, and ARAI has finally revealed the real mileage figures of the Tata Sierra.
The post revealing the mileage of the Tata Sierra has been shared on X by Vahan Warta on their page. In this post, it has been mentioned that an RTI was filed on the 26th of November last year, and on the 19th of December, this RTI was closed. As per the post, ARAI has revealed that the 1.5-litre TGDi Hyperion turbo petrol engine of the Sierra has a certified mileage of 13.5 kmpl.

Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 18.8 kmpl. Presently, ARAI has not tested the Tata Sierra with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine. As a result, the exact mileage figure of this particular engine has not been reported.

First off, let's start with the engine option that is the most affordable of the three, and it is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol motor. This four-cylinder engine is capable of producing 105 bhp and 145 Nm of torque. It is being offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
It is mostly suited for buyers who have a majority of driving in the city and do not need any punchy performance. Although ARAI is yet to certify the mileage of this engine, a number of owners who have taken delivery of the Sierra with this engine have reported that it offers real-world mileage in the range of 15–17 kmpl.

Next up in the lineup is the more powerful 1.5-litre TGDi Hyperion turbo petrol engine, which gets direct injection. This is again a four-cylinder motor, but with the help of the turbocharger, it is capable of producing 158 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. It is only being offered with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
This engine is for enthusiasts who enjoy quick acceleration and spirited driving. As mentioned above, due to the focus on power and acceleration, this particular engine only offers a mileage of 13.5 kmpl. In real life, this mileage could also go a bit lower depending upon the driving pattern.

Last on offer from Tata Motors is the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine, which is also a four-cylinder motor capable of making 118 bhp and 260 Nm of torque with the 6-speed manual gearbox and 280 Nm of torque with the 6-speed torque-converter automatic. According to ARAI, it offers the best fuel efficiency of 18.8 kmpl in the Sierra lineup.
The diesel engine is best suited for those buyers who have to commute long distances on highways on a daily basis. It has been designed to provide effortless acceleration and high mileage to those who have to drive thousands of km every month. Tata Sierra, in terms of pricing, starts at Rs 11.49 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 21.29 lakh.
