If you are planning to buy a butch, off-road capable SUV sometime soon, this list is for you. We’ll give you details of six off-road-ready SUVs that are set to launch in the coming months, spanning segments and price points.

The Majestor, revealed in India on February 12th, is the first one in this list. Market launch is expected in April. It measures over five metres in length and is referred to as a ‘D+ segment’ SUV by the manufacturer.
The Majestor is based on a rugged ladder-frame platform and will come powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 210 hp and 479 Nm. It is one of the largest SUVs that MG has introduced in India yet, and will compete with rivals like the Fortuner, which interestingly, is also awaiting an update soon.

The Majestor’s large dimensions translate into a spacious cabin, that also comes packed with technology and features. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered and ventilated front seats with memory and massage functions, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and several other features are to be expected.
The Majestor comes equipped with a low-range transfer case and triple differential locks, and even offers crawl control function. The 4x4 hardware on this SUV ensures that the driver gets maximum control even on tricky terrains. MG offers 10 terrain modes on this SUV.

JSW Group is preparing to set up its own independent passenger vehicle vertical. A rebadged version of the Jetour T2 SUV is expected to be one of its first products here. It will have a different name when launched, and will be positioned as a D-segment SUV. The T2 will be brought to India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits and assembled at the company’s upcoming plant in Maharashtra.
Globally, the Jetour T2 is known for its rugged, boxy styling and feature-rich interior, and most of these elements are expected to remain unchanged on the India-spec. International markets get both five-seat and seven-seat configurations, though the latter is more likely for India.

The global model offers several powertrain options, but India is likely to get the plug-in hybrid i-DM variant. This setup uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 26.7 kWh battery pack. The combined output will be 375 hp and 610 Nm. That makes it significantly more powerful than the Fortuner. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions are available on the global spec. The AWD version will likely be brought to India as well.

Mahindra is working on a facelifted version of the Mahindra Scorpio‑N. It is expected to give the SUV notable design changes, and more features. It will get new, larger grille, restyled bumpers, new wheels and subtle tweaks in headlamps. Inside, the SUV is likely to get a larger touchscreen and several other features.
Mahindra may give the facelifted Scorpio-N a panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats. More importantly, ADAS features will be made available on more variants.
Engine options are likely to remain unchanged- a 2.2-litre turbo diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, available with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Alongside the Scorpio-N facelift, Mahindra will also refresh the Scorpio Classic. The updated model will feature subtle cosmetic improvements and feature additions. A larger touchscreen and other cabin improvements can be expected. Here too, the powertrain options will remain unchanged. The updated model will continue with the 2.2-litre detuned mHawk diesel engine producing around 128hp and 300Nm.

The next-generation Hilux was recently showcased in Thailand. It is expected to launch in India in the coming months. It continues to be based on the IMV platform, which underpins the outgoing Fortuner and Hilux.
As a proper ladder-frame pickup, the Hilux has built a global reputation for being one of the toughest and most durable vehicles on sale. The next-generation model is expected to keep the same safe.

On the design front, the new Hilux will get a thoroughly revised front fascia. Toyota calls it the Cyber Sumo face. Additionally, the wheels, tail lamps and rear bumper will also be redesigned.
Inside, the truck will see the addition of more features and the suspension will also see improvements. Engine and transmission options are expected to remain the same on the new model as well.

Another highly anticipated launch is the next-generation Toyota Fortuner. It will likely be based on a heavily upgraded version of the IMV platform. Test mules of the new Fortuner have already been spied testing. Like the new Hilux, the next-generation Fortuner will also feature a completely redesigned exterior.
The cabin design and feature list will also be improved. Toyota will also add more safety features to the SUV. The next-generation Fortuner will offer two engine choices- 2.7L petrol and 2.8L turbocharged diesel engine. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available. Like the current generation, it will also be a capable off-roader. India launch of the new Fortuner is expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
