The Hyundai Creta, despite its age, continues to dominate the mid-size SUV segment in India. The Korean carmaker is known to be working on the next-generation Creta, which has now been spied testing in India for the first time. A video shared by the Instagram handle Autojournal India shows the SUV moving through Indian roads. It has generous camouflage on it, but the sighting gives us a fair picture of its dimensions and overall silhouette. These match with the previous spy shots from Korea, thereby confirming it to be the upcoming Creta.
In the latest sighting, the test mule has two layers of camouflage. It is seen driving on a highway. The front grille, portions of the LED DRLs, wheels and parts of the roof are visible. The SUV gets a flatter nose, new headlamps, and a new fog lamp cluster. It remains unclear if the new Creta will come with a full-width LED light bar like the outgoing model.
The grille seems to run along the width of the vehicle. It appears to have a fresh design. The alloy wheels look stylish and in line with the carmaker’s newer lineup’s wheel design.

The overall silhouette appears to be different from that of the outgoing model. The A-pillar, C-pillar and roofline look different. However, look closely and you will find some similarity with the outgoing model.
The sighting also confirms that the next-generation Creta will get flush-fitting door handles. No pull type unit can be seen here. This is a transition that not everyone would be happy with. Pull-type door handles are more ergonomic than flush-fitting units.
Overall, the design seems to have become boxier on the new model. The SUV seems to be carrying testing equipment and the dense camouflage prevents us from learning more of its styling details.

Since this is a full model change, the upcoming Creta (internally called Hyundai SX3) will get a fresh interior design. The details of the same remain under the wraps for now. The Creta is already a feature-rich product. The generational upgrade is expected to add more features to it. It is likely to get larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen and instrument cluster, more connected car features and possibly even more ADAS functions.

The outgoing generation of Creta is underpinned by the Hyundai-Kia K2 platform. The next-generation model will move to the third-generation K3 architecture. This will likely lead to an increase in overall dimensions. The test mule here seems to be slightly larger than the outgoing SUV. More importantly, it will have a more advanced Electrical and Electronics (E&E) spine. It will offer improved crashworthiness and safety as it will have higher torsional rigidity. The overall NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels will also improve on the new model.
At launch, the new Creta will be offered with the same set of engine options as the outgoing model- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L turbocharged diesel. These will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The output figures are said to remain identical to those of the current model.
A new strong hybrid powertrain is expected to join the lineup sometime in the future. This will be a new 1.5L strong hybrid setup, speculated to excel with its fuel efficiency, when launched. Details of its power and torque remain unclear for now.
The latest spy sighting has made it clear- Hyundai will launch the new-generation Creta later this year or in early 2027. The competition in the mid-size SUV space has been increasing rapidly and the generational update has in a way, become essential for the Creta to maintain its dominance.
