Maruti Suzuki recently launched its first-ever electric car, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, in the market this year. Maruti is also working on expanding its lineup by updating existing models and introducing new ones. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Maruti Suzuki Baleno will soon receive facelifts, and Maruti is also preparing to launch a new electric MPV. All these models were recently spotted testing together on mountain roads in a convoy.
The video was shared by CarIndiaNews on its Instagram page. The footage was recorded by a social media user. In the short clip, we see the upcoming Maruti Brezza facelift, Maruti Baleno facelift, and Maruti’s upcoming electric MPV, codenamed YMC, being driven uphill.
All three cars seen in the video are heavily camouflaged as they are still under testing. The Baleno’s tail lamp design appears similar to the current version. However, we expect to see minor changes to the bumper, and it may even get updated LED lighting elements. The front of the hatchback is also expected to receive subtle updates, including a tweaked grille, revised headlamps, and a refreshed bumper.
We may also see a revised alloy wheel design along with additional features like a sunroof, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, and more.
Mechanically, the Baleno facelift is expected to continue with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 89 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. It is likely to be offered with both manual and AMT gearbox options. As usual, a CNG variant is also expected to be launched.
Next is the Brezza facelift. We have been seeing several videos and images of the upcoming Brezza facelift lately. As part of the update, the SUV is expected to get a revised front grille, updated bumper, and new alloy wheels. It will continue to remain a sub-4-metre SUV, but Maruti may load it with more features to keep up with the competition. It could come with a larger touchscreen, seat ventilation, connected car technology, and possibly even ADAS features.
The Brezza is expected to continue with the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with manual and automatic transmission options. The gearbox may be updated, and the manual version could now get a 6-speed unit. Apart from this, there is also a possibility that the SUV could receive the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
The last vehicle in the video is the YMC electric MPV. It is based on the same platform as the e Vitara. The upcoming model is expected to be a seven-seater MPV featuring a premium-looking front end with a closed grille, Suzuki logo, open lower air dam, thick wheel-arch cladding, LED tail lamps, and more.
EV-specific wheels are also visible in the video. It should be noted that the MPV gets a boxy design and is expected to come with features like a panoramic glass roof, large touchscreen infotainment system, e Vitara-like driver display, automatic climate control, reclining seats, wireless charger, Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and more.
The upcoming YMC EV is expected to be powered by the same 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options. While the e Vitara is a front-wheel-drive EV, there is a possibility that Maruti might opt for a rear-wheel-drive setup for this MPV. The upcoming electric MPV is expected to compete with rivals like the Mahindra XEV 9e and the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
