The Mahindra XUV 7XO is currently one of the most popular 7-seater SUVs in the market. So far, Mahindra was only delivering the higher-spec AX7, AX7L, AX7T, and other variants. However, recently the company has started dispatching the base AX variants of this SUV as well. Now finally, we have a video which shows us the base AX variant of the Mahindra XUV 7XO diesel, which has been priced at Rs 14.96 lakh.
The video showing the Mahindra XUV 7XO base AX variant has been shared on YouTube by Fuel Injected on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that this particular AX variant is the diesel engine model, which is priced at Rs 14.96 lakh. He adds that the base AX variant with the petrol engine is priced at Rs 13.66 lakh.

Soon after this, he starts showing the exterior of this variant. He mentions that at the front, this SUV looks almost the same as the higher-end variants as it gets the same dual projector LED headlights with C-shaped LED DRLs. It also gets the gloss black front grille and the silver finish on the lower part of the bumper. However, being the base variant, it misses out on the LED fog lights, cornering lights, front parking sensors, ADAS radar, and front camera.
Next up, the vlogger then opens the bonnet of this SUV and talks about the powertrain options. He mentions that this particular XUV 7XO is equipped with the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine, which makes 185 PS and 420 Nm of torque. However, it also gets a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine option, which makes 200 PS and 380 Nm of torque. Both engines come offered with the same 6-speed manual gearbox.

Before showing the side profile, the presenter highlights that the base AX variant does not come with the automatic gearbox option. He then states that the automatic gearbox option starts from the AX3 variant, which is around Rs 2.6 lakh more expensive. The presenter also adds that according to him, it does not make sense to buy the AX3 variant as it only gets a few more features than the AX variant, and the price jump is not justified.
Moving ahead, the presenter then starts showing the side profile. The AX variant of the XUV 7XO comes with 17-inch black steel wheels with silver wheel covers, which have the same design as the XUV700. He adds that it also gets the same flush-type door handles and electrically adjustable ORVMs. However, the handles do not automatically open, and the ORVMs do not offer auto-fold functionality. Also, this variant misses out on the chrome on the window line.

Finally, the vlogger then shows the rear end of the XUV 7XO AX. He mentions that it gets the same integrated roof spoiler, shark fin antenna, and LED taillights as the higher-spec variants. However, it misses out on the rear camera, rear window wiper, washer, and defogger setup. Overall, from the outside, the XUV 7XO AX variant does not look as bare-bones as base variants of other cars.
Following the exterior, the vlogger then opens the bootlid of this SUV. He states that with the third row folded, there is an ample amount of space. However, with the third row up, the space gets minimal, and the third row is only good enough for children. Adults will not be very comfortable in the third row on longer journeys.

The vlogger then shows the dashboard layout of this SUV and mentions that despite being the base variant, Mahindra is still offering the XUV 7XO AX variant with the triple-screen setup as the top-of-the-line variants. It includes 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument gauge cluster, infotainment system, and passenger infotainment. Apart from these, the base AX comes loaded with many other features.
These include a manual air conditioning system, push-start-stop button, manual handbrake (higher variants get an electronic parking brake), XUV700-like flat-bottom steering wheel with controls for cruise control and infotainment, and many others. He adds that the overall color scheme is similar to the AX7T, which is the second-top variant.
