Mahindra has achieved an incredible milestone by commencing deliveries of over 600 electric SUVs on a single day, across India. The carmaker today (March 19th) shared the news through its official social media handles.
The creative shared by Mahindra shows a collection of images showing people taking deliveries of their Mahindra e-SUVs at various dealerships. Text on the poster reads ‘ 600+ eSUVs delivered in one day. A strong festive start for India’. The spring celebrations have just begun in India. Mahindra’s milestone delivery event commenced on the occasion of Ugadi, the Hindu New Year festival. It is considered highly auspicious to buy new cars during Ugadi.
From what we know yet, 600+ Electric Origin SUVs reached their respective owners. The Electric Origin range now has the XEV 9e, XEV 9e Cinelux, XEV 9S, BE6 and BE6 FE (Formule E). These electric SUVs are all based on the INGLO platform. The carmaker also sells two other electric SUVs- the XUV400 and XUV 3XO EV.

Interestingly, Mahindra managed to sell more EVs on a single day than the monthly sales of foreign brands like Hyundai and Kia. Hyundai for example, sold just 341 electric vehicles in February this year, while Kia’s EV numbers during the same period stood at 377 units.
The milestone delivery even outsmarted the February numbers of Vinfast, which is considered as one of the fastest growing EV brands in India. The Vietnamese car brand posted sales of 421 units in February.

The BE6 and XEV 9e were the first Electric Origin SUVs to go on sale in India. These were introduced in November 2024 and instantly became popular among EV buyers. A year later, the BE6 Formule E (BE6 FE) was introduced, along with the XEV 9S- Mahindra’s first three-row electric SUV.
Talking of sales, the carmaker managed to sell over 30,000 units of the XEV 9e and BE6 in the first seven months of launch. This roughly translates to one of these e-SUVs getting sold every 10 minutes during the period. This was incredible considering the BE6 and XEV 9e were both premium products with ex-showroom starting prices of Rs 18.9 lakh, and Rs 21.9 lakh respectively.
Both these products had a lot of aspirational value and appeal. We saw them reaching the garages of many celebrities, business leaders and other public figures. This contributed to the sales snowball effect that followed.
The success of these models was a clear signal of the way the EV buyers in India were evolving and how the company was able to cater to their demands. Learnings from these may have helped Mahindra in packaging the 9S well and positioning it right in the market.

The three-row electric SUV also proved to be equally successful. Its deliveries began in late January. Sales data from February 2026 show that the XEV 9S outsold both BE6 and XEV 9e to become the carmaker’s best-selling electric vehicle. Its pricing is likely to have played an important role in shaping the XEV 9S’ acceptance.
The 9S continues to be in great demand and the carmaker is working hard to commence deliveries on the committed time. Even then, the model commands a waiting period. It is expected to reduce in the coming months.
The conventional SUV design, smart packaging and comfortable cabin of the 9S seem to appeal well to EV buyers, turning it into another golden feather in the Indian carmaker’s EV crown.
Mahindra’s EV vertical has definitely started the festive season on a high note. We expect the strong sales momentum to sustain and more deliveries to follow in the coming weeks, especially around Navaratri.
