Mahindra has laid out a new, more aggressive product roadmap for the next five years. It plans to launch 16 new models by 2031. These will include both internal combustion engine (ICE) and EV models. As per previous plans, the proposed lineup would include 9 ICE SUVs and 7 EVs. As per the new strategy, 10 new ICE SUVs and six EVs will launch by 2031. Here’s everything we know about this product blitz.

Back in 2024, Mahindra had announced a target of launching nine ICE models and seven EVs by 2030. These included three mid-life updates and six new SUVs. By the end of (financial year) FY2026, Mahindra achieved more than half of that target. It launched models like the XUV 3XO, Thar ROXX, XUV 7XO, new Bolero and the Bolero Neo. In EVs, it launched four products including the BE6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S.

In a recent media interaction, Mahindra announced its renewed vision. It seems to have scaled up its ambitions significantly. It plans to launch 16 products by 2031. But this time, just one of the 10 planned ICE launches will be an update to an existing model. The rest will all be new models. The company will also launch six electric vehicles. What could these possibly be? Well, it is too early to comment authoritatively on this. Here are the best possibilities.
Let’s start with the mid-life update. It will most likely be the Scorpio-N facelift. It has been spotted on test multiple times and is expected to come with significant changes in design and cabin packaging. The facelift will close the feature gap that the Scorpio-N has developed with its rivals over the years. The facelift will see the addition of a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and more. Powertrain options will remain unchanged. The new SUV will come with the same 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L turbocharged petrol engines.

One of the new models will be the production form of the Global Pik-Up concept showcased previously at Cape Town, South Africa. It will be a lifestyle pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N family. It will, however, have significant re-engineering gone into it. Even the dimensions will be larger than those of the SUV. It will be underpinned by a new-generation ladder-frame platform and will likely use the Scorpio-N’s engine options.

Another launch expected from Mahindra in the coming years is the production form of Vision S. Mahindra showcased four exciting concept cars in August last year, underpinned by its newly developed ‘NU_IQ’ platform- Vision S, Vision T, Vision SXT and Vision X. A C2 segment SUV, which we believe is the production-spec Vision S, will be the first to arrive. The Vision S-based SUV will have a boxy design, clean lines and a tall stance. It is expected to be available both as an EV and ICE product.
Vision T is an evolution of the Thar.E concept showcased previously. The production model here will likely join the Thar family. It is based on Mahindra’s new ‘Born Iconic’ design philosophy and has a tall stance and butch proportions. We expect the production model to not go far from the prototype with its design. We expect it to be out in late 2027 or early 2028, in both EV and ICE avatars.

The Vision SXT will also have EV and ICE versions, and will be based on the same ‘Born Iconic’ philosophy. This model will also join the Thar family as a more outdoorsy, adventure-ready product.
The fourth concept, Vision X will spawn a sub-four metre SUV. The concept has a good-looking design comprising sleek headlamps, clean lines and smooth surfaces. When launched, the production model will compete with the likes of Kia Sonet, second-generation Hyundai Venue and Maruti Brezza facelift.

In addition to the all-electric counterparts of the above models, Mahindra will also launch two new Electric Origin SUVs under the BE sub-brand- BE07 and BE09. These will both be based on the INGLO skateboard platform and will have BE family’s signature design direction. The BE07, expected to launch in 2027, will be positioned above the BE6 in Mahindra’s lineup. It will be a size larger and will likely come with the same three battery packs- 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh.
The BE 09 will become the flagship in the BE lineup when launched. It will likely debut in 2027 and may have the familiar set of battery packs. It is likely to be priced in the range of 40-50 lakh rupees, ex-showroom.

The details of the remaining launches remain unclear at the time of writing. What we do know is that they will all be new products and not merely facelifts or generational updates. Mahindra seems to be working on expanding its portfolio aggressively and in the larger picture, scaling production.
The company plans to expand its annual production capacity to around 1 million units by the end of this decade. A large share of the additional capacity will be reserved for these upcoming models, particularly the ones based on the NU_IQ platform.
