The Japanese luxury auto giant Lexus has finally launched the eighth generation of its luxury sedan ES in India. This new Lexus ES has been launched with a price tag of Rs 89.99 lakh. It was globally unveiled last year in April and has now finally made its way to India. This time around, the ES is based on the updated TNGA GA-K platform and has been launched with an all-electric powertrain making its Lexus' first battery powered vehicle in India. It boasts a ton of exterior and interior design updates, which have taken its appearance and appeal to the next level.

Lexus has launched the eighth generation of the ES in India with a starting price of Rs 89.99 lakh. This pricing is for the Lexus ES 500e electric variant. It will be brought into India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

This time around, Lexus has redesigned the vehicle from scratch and has given it an extremely futuristic design. At the front, this sedan now boasts a set of signature L-shaped LED DRLs, which have been integrated with turn indicators arranged in a Z-shaped pattern, which gives it a very distinct appearance. Additionally, the main LED headlights have even been placed lower within the vertical gloss black element.
Lexus has also moved away from the traditional spindle grille and has replaced it with a smooth central body panel and a smaller lower air intake with diamond pattern detailing. This bonnet features sharper and more sculpted lines, which also flow into the fenders, adding to the futuristic appearance. Lastly, adding to the visual width of this sedan, Lexus has given it new vertical air curtains on the bumper edges.

Moving to the sides, Lexus has made the new generation ES a lot more aerodynamic. It now gets a strong shoulder line, a pronounced aerodynamic crease with gloss black accents, flush-fitting door handles, and newly designed multi-spoke alloy wheels. This time around, the Lexus ES has also grown in size. It is now 165 mm longer, 55 mm wider, and its height has increased by 115 mm. Additionally, the wheelbase has increased by 80 mm.

All of these changes have improved the cabin space of this sedan and also give it a better road presence. As for the changes in the rear, like the front and sides, the new rear end also looks very smart and futuristic. It is clean and also very premium-looking, with its full-width LED light bar, and also gets illuminated Lexus lettering, which is integrated into the light bar. Additionally, it also boasts a sharper boot lid edge, L-shaped reflectors, and an aggressive yet clean-looking rear diffuser.

Moving inside the cabin, the new Lexus ES now gets a very clean, minimalistic, and driver-focused cabin layout. The busy, button-filled design has been replaced with digitised controls. The main highlight of the new Lexus ES cabin is the massive 14-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument gauge cluster for the driver and a Head-Up Display, along with touch-capacitive controls on the centre console.

Other notable highlights of the new Lexus ES cabin include a three-spoke steering wheel, physical controls, powered front seats with memory function, heating and ventilation, massage function, and “Boss mode”. Apart from these, it also gets a Mark Levinson premium audio system, an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, multi-zone automatic climate control, and an electronic parking brake.

The new 2026 Lexus ES in India has been launched with an all-electric powertrain. Powering the Lexus 500e is a dual motor setup capable of making 343 bhp and gets a 75 kWh battery pack with a range of 580 km.
