The South Korean automotive giant Kia India, a while ago, confirmed that in the future, it will be replacing the diesel powertrain offered in its cars with strong hybrid powertrains. This will help the company in offering a fuel-efficient powertrain with a controlled level of emissions. Now, if you are wondering which strong hybrid cars are coming from Kia, then you have come to the right spot.

The first major hybrid model which is expected from Kia is the Sorento Hybrid. Recently, this premium three-row SUV was spotted testing near Delhi, which suggests that its launch in India is very close. Most likely, the Sorento Hybrid will be launched in late 2026 around the festive season. It is expected to be priced from around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
In terms of design, the Sorento will boast a bold and upright SUV stance with vertical LED headlamps, a large Tiger Nose grille, squared wheel arches, and 19-inch alloy wheels. It will measure around 4.8 metres in length and will offer a spacious three-row cabin. Like all Kia cars, it too will come loaded with features including dual 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a premium BOSE audio system, connected car technology, and Level 2 ADAS.
Powering the Sorento Hybrid will most likely be a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain, which will come paired with an automatic transmission and an optional AWD system. The exact power figures of this powertrain have not been revealed. However, internationally, it is offered with a 1.6-litre hybrid which makes 261 bhp and 350 Nm of torque.

To make Seltos even more popular, the company is gearing up to launch the strong hybrid version of this mid-size SUV in India. The hybrid version of the Seltos is expected to make its debut sometime in 2027 and could be priced between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh on-road. Once launched, it will rival hybrid SUVs such as the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, and other upcoming hybrid SUVs.
The Seltos Hybrid is expected to use a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor and battery pack. One of its biggest highlights will be its fuel efficiency, which is expected to be over 25 kmpl. The hybrid model will be based on the larger and safer K3 platform. It is also expected to come offered with some hybrid-specific styling elements such as unique alloy wheels and badges. The interior layout and feature list will remain the same.

Kia has also confirmed that it is planning to launch a hybrid version of the Carnival luxury MPV in India. The Carnival Hybrid is expected to make its debut before 2030 and could be priced between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). It will become a more affordable alternative to the super-expensive Toyota Vellfire and the Lexus LM 350h Ultra Luxury.
Internationally, the Carnival Hybrid is offered with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine which comes paired with a hybrid system. This setup produces a combined output of 272 bhp and 367 Nm of torque and comes paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. Now, whether the India-spec model will offer the same setup or a new hybrid powertrain has not been confirmed. Its feature highlights will include premium captain seats, large infotainment screens, ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, and many others.

It has been reported that Kia has also started developing the next-generation Sonet, which is expected to be launched in 2027. This time around, it is also expected to offer a strong hybrid version as well. However, this version will most likely make its debut around 2028 or 2029. Once launched, it could become one of the most affordable strong hybrid SUVs in India, as it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 13 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Sonet will be based on the reinforced K1 platform, which is already offered with the Syros and current-generation Hyundai Venue. As for the design, it is expected to offer completely new exterior styling, larger dimensions, and improved rear-seat space. As for the features, it will include a larger 12.3-inch screen, Level 2 ADAS, OTA updates, and enhanced safety. Details of the hybrid powertrain have not yet been revealed. However, it could most likely get a 1.2 or 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a small battery pack.

Last on this list is the hybrid version of the Carens Clavis. This model will most likely make its debut before 2029 and could be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). The Carens Clavis Hybrid is expected to share the same 1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrain that will be used in the Seltos Hybrid and Sorento Hybrid. Its list of features could include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, and ADAS.
