Kia is preparing to expand the variant line-up of its newly introduced Carens Clavis EV. According to recently leaked internal documents, the electric multi-purpose vehicle will soon receive the brand’s signature GT Line and X-Line trims, alongside a new seating configuration. These additions are designed to give the family-focused electric vehicle a more premium and aggressive visual appeal, mirroring the variant structure already seen on Kia’s internal combustion engine models like the Seltos and Sonet.

The leaked information confirms that the new GT Line will be offered in two specific trims: the GTX and the fully loaded GTX+. Meanwhile, the X-Line will be introduced as a standalone top-tier variant.

A crucial detail for prospective buyers is that these sporty new trims will be paired exclusively with the Extended Range powertrain. They will not be available with the smaller 42 kWh battery pack.
Buyers opting for the GT Line or X-Line will get the larger 51.4 kWh battery pack, which powers a front-mounted electric motor producing 171 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. This extended-range setup claims an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 490 kilometres on a single charge.

When plugged into a 100 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 39 minutes. To facilitate daily charging at home, Kia supplies these extended-range models with a standard 11 kW AC wall box charger, while the base variants make do with a slower 7 kW unit.
While the mechanical specifications remain identical to the standard Extended Range models, the GT Line and X-Line versions will bring distinct visual changes. Based on Kia’s usual treatment, the GT Line is expected to feature gloss black exterior accents, sportier front and rear bumper designs, and exclusive alloy wheels, combined with a dark interior theme featuring contrasting stitching. The X-Line typically adopts a more stealthy approach, featuring a matte graphite exterior paint finish, dark gunmetal trim elements, and a bespoke interior upholstery colour.
Inside the cabin, these top-tier trims will carry over the extensive equipment list found on the current HTX+ variant. This includes the twin 10.25-inch digital screens serving as the instrument cluster and infotainment system, an eight-speaker Bose audio setup, and a panoramic sunroof. They will also feature advanced driver assistance systems, commonly known as ADAS, which include functions like autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Alongside the cosmetic upgrades at the top end, Kia is also addressing the broader demand for a more comfortable rear-cabin experience. The leaked document confirms that a new six-seat configuration will soon join the line-up. This version will replace the standard second-row bench with two individual captain seats equipped with adjustable armrests and slide-and-recline functions.
Notably, this captain-seat layout will not be restricted only to the expensive GT Line or X-Line trims. It will be offered starting from the mid-spec HTX E variant and will be available with both the 42-kWh standard range and the 51.4 kWh extended range battery options, making the premium seating layout accessible at a lower price point.
With the current Carens Clavis EV prices starting at Rs 17.99 lakh ex-showroom for the base model, the introduction of the GT Line and X-Line variants is expected to push the top-end pricing comfortably past the Rs 24 lakh mark, positioning it as a direct premium alternative to the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and the Mahindra XEV 9s.
