Hyundai Motor India launched the all-new generation Venue SUV in the market last year. We drove the new Venue in Goa, and at the time of the media drive, it was mentioned that Hyundai had worked extensively on the build quality of the vehicle. To validate these claims, the SUV was sent for Bharat NCAP testing. The crash test results are now out, and the Venue has secured a 5-star rating.
Commenting on the all-new Hyundai Venue and Venue N Line scoring 5-star safety ratings at Bharat NCAP, Mr. Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “We are extremely proud that the all-new Hyundai Venue and Venue N Line have secured a 5-star safety rating under Bharat NCAP testing, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to offering world-class products to our customers. This achievement further strengthens our commitment to making advanced safety technologies accessible to a wider set of customers in India. We thank Hon’ble Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari ji, MoRTH, and the testing agency for their rigorous efforts. We will continue to push boundaries to ensure that every Hyundai vehicle offers the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.”
The crash test video is available on Bharat NCAP’s YouTube channel. Like all other vehicles, the Venue underwent a series of tests to prove its safety. The first was the offset deformable barrier test. In this test, the SUV crashed into the barrier at a speed of 64 km/h. On impact, the front bumper, headlamps, grille, and fender of the SUV were damaged. However, the pillars remained intact, and if you watch the video carefully, the airbags deployed on time. Not only did the front airbags deploy, but the side curtain airbags also opened.
Next was the side impact test at a speed of 50 km/h. In this test as well, the curtain airbags deployed on time. The body panels of the Venue absorbed the impact effectively, and the shell of the SUV remained stable. The curtain airbags helped protect both adult and child occupants in the vehicle.
The side pole test also demonstrated the Venue’s safety. At a speed of 29 km/h, the roof, doors, and B-pillar of the SUV sustained damage, but the occupants remained safe, and the airbags deployed in this case too.
In all the tests, the adult and child occupants did not suffer any major injuries, making the Venue a safe car in its segment. In fact, the Hyundai Venue scored 31.15 points out of 32 for adult occupant safety and 44.46 points out of 49 for child occupant safety.
The Hyundai Venue has now become the latest vehicle to join the list of 5-star-rated SUVs in the sub-4-metre segment, which includes models like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Kia Syros.
Apart from structural strength, the Hyundai Venue also comes with more than 65 advanced safety features, including 33 standard safety features across all variants. Some of these include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), an electric parking brake with auto hold, a surround view monitor (SVM), all four disc brakes, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), an electrochromic mirror (ECM) with telematics switches, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, a rollover sensor, and more.
