South Korean car manufacturers Hyundai and Kia are among the most popular brands in the country. These brands are preferred by customers who are looking for premium-looking products on a budget. The month of April 2026 has actually been great for both Kia and Hyundai in India, as they recorded their highest-ever sales in April.
Hyundai has been one of the leading car manufacturers in India, and April 2026 has been a great month for the brand. The South Korean carmaker sold 51,902 units in the domestic market last month. This represents a 17 percent year-on-year growth. It is the highest-ever domestic sales figure for the month of April since its inception.

Hyundai also exported 13,708 units in April 2026. The Hyundai Venue achieved its highest-ever monthly sales, with 12,420 units sold in April alone.

Commenting on the April 2026 sales results, Mr. Tarun Garg, MD & CEO - HMIL, said:
We have opened the new financial year on a strong note, carrying forward the momentum built in recent months into April 2026. With monthly domestic sales of 51,902 units, Hyundai Motor India has achieved its highest-ever April domestic sales, registering a robust 17% year-on-year growth. The encouraging response to our recent product interventions, including the new EXTER, VERNA, IONIQ 5 and CRETA Summer Edition, Grand i10 NIOS Vibe Edition and VENUE Knight Edition, has reinforced the competitiveness of our line-up. The 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for VENUE and VENUE N Line further exemplifies our steadfast commitment to safety, contributing to the model’s highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 12,420 units. As we move ahead, we remain dedicated to delivering future-ready innovation, benchmark safety and a delightful ownership experience for customers across India.
Hyundai launched the new generation Venue last year and it has been doing well since then. The SUV is based on a new platform and it comes with several new features than ever before. It looks like a baby Creta and that is probably one of the reason why it is doing so well every month.
Along with the premium exterior, Hyundai as usual has loaded the cabin with premium features like level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, premium audio system and so on. The Venue is available with a 1.2 litre NA petrol, 1.0 litre turbo petrol and a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine options.
The Venue rivals with the likes of Tata Nexon in the segment. Although Hyundai is not selling as many units as Nexon, South Korean brand is managing to sell over 10,000 units every month.
Kia also had a great April in terms of sales. It recorded its highest-ever sales for the month of April since its entry into the Indian market. Kia recorded sales of 27,286 units, which is a 16 percent year-on-year growth over the 23,623 units sold in April 2025. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, Kia India recorded sales of 111,611 units, compared to 99,199 units in the same period last year, registering a 13% growth.

The new-generation Seltos is the best-seller for the brand, followed by models like the Sonet and Carens Clavis. The newly launched Seltos has gained popularity among buyers for its unique looks and premium features, and we feel the 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating has also helped.
Commenting on the performance, Mr. Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said:
Our highest-ever April performance builds on the steady growth we have seen over the past several months. This momentum is being led by the new Kia Seltos, with Sonet and Carens along with Clavis continuing to strengthen our presence across key segments through ongoing enhancements. The expansion of our service network further reflects our focus on improving accessibility and delivering a seamless ownership experience to customers.
Kia launched the new generation Seltos earlier this year. It has been doing well in terms of sales since then. The SUV is based on K3 platform and has actually grown in size when compared to the previous generaton model. The Seltos is available with several premium features like all LED headlamps, alloy wheels, level 2 ADAS, seat ventilation, electric seat adjustment with memory function, panoramic sunroof, leatherette upholstery and so on.
It is available with a 1.5 litre NA petrol, 1.5 litre turbo petrol and a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine options. In terms of numbers, the new generation Seltos has been consistently doing over 10,000 units every month. It competes with the likes of Tata Sierra which does slightly less than the Seltos in terms of numbers.

In the coming months, both Hyundai and Kia will try their best to maintain this momentum by launching new and updated products in the market. For Kia, there are models like the Sorento and Kia Syros EV lined up for launch, while Hyundai has the next-generation Creta with a strong hybrid engine coming next year.
Hyundai will be launching the next generation Creta early next year and the same has been spotted testing several times. It will come with a new exterior desing and a completely new cabin along with premium features.
The main attraction would be the new 1.5 litre strong hybrid engine which will debut in the Creta and would make its way to Seltos too. Kia will be launching the 7-seater SUV Sorento in the market later this year and that SUV will also get the same hybrid engine set up.
Currently two models from both Hyundai and Kia are contributing the most in terms of sales. For Hyundai it is the Creta and the Venue while the Kia has the Seltos and the Sonet.
