Honda, as part of its new strategy, aims to bring new and interesting models to the Indian market. While the whole world is moving towards SUVs, Honda has plans to introduce more SUVs along with other body styles in our market. One such product is the Prelude. It is an all-new two-door sports coupe that is expected to become the halo product for Honda in India when launched. The Honda Prelude has already been unveiled and launched internationally, and here we have a video that shows the exterior, interior, and features of the upcoming Prelude.
The video has been shared by CarsGuide on their YouTube channel. In this video, the presenter talks about the design features and the things he liked and didn’t like about the vehicle. Starting with the design, Honda, as usual, has gone for a no-nonsense yet stylish-looking exterior design for the Prelude. It gets a clean, low-slung, and distinctly sporty silhouette. It is based on a platform derived from the Honda Civic. It sits a significant 60 mm lower than a standard Civic hatchback, giving it an aggressive stance.
The sports coupe comes with sharp-looking headlamps that meet the sleek grille at the front. As this is a coupe, the car gets a sloping roof design, and the two doors can also be seen here. The car runs on 19-inch wheels, which help improve the overall look of the vehicle. The presenter mentions that the rear of the new Prelude reminded him of a Porsche.

Moving in, the Prelude comes with a premium-looking cabin that includes heavily bolstered sports seats finished in high-end materials like premium white suede with blue accent stitching. It comes with a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, electrically adjustable seats with a heating function, suede material with Prelude branding on the dashboard, a multifunction steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, a ZR-V-type gear selector, drive modes, and many more features.
The presenter mentions that he didn’t like the fact that the car comes with flush-fitting door handles and that there are no grab handles in the cabin. He is also not a big fan of the gear selector. This is a two-door, four-seater hybrid sports coupe. The rear seats are not ideal for adults, as they do not offer much legroom or headroom. Although this is a sports coupe, the car comes with a large 663 litres of usable boot space.
The Prelude coupe is a hybrid car, and it is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine mated to two electric motors and a 1.1 kWh battery pack. Of the two electric motors, one powers the wheels while the other charges the battery. It is a strong-hybrid system that allows the driver to use the car as a pure EV, a hybrid, or an ICE-powered vehicle. The Prelude coupe generates a combined power output of 201 PS, and the torque figures are also likely to be higher than 315 Nm.
The car seen in the video here is the international variant which gets heated seats. This feature is likely to be skipped for India and we really hope that Honda offers the ventilation feature instead. The Honda Prelude will be offered in India as a CBU and will probably become the most expensive Honda in India. It would also be the first time Honda brings a performance-oriented vehicle to the Indian market.
