Small electric SUVs are already in good demand. More models are expected to be introduced in the coming months. These will include both sub-compact electric SUVs and small electric hatchbacks. Here are five sub-four metre EVs to keep an eye on.

Kia is planning to launch its second mass-market EV in India- the Syros EV. Market launch is expected in August this year. It will then become the brand’s most affordable and smallest EV in India, and will compete with the likes of Tata Nexon.EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
On the design front, the EV will borrow heavily from the internal combustion Syros. The overall shape and stance will remain unchanged. There will, however, be EV-specific elements like redesigned bumpers, new aero-optimized wheels, and a charging port that sits on the front fender.

Inside, the Syro EV will have likely use a different colour palette. Feature list is likely to stay identical to that of the internal combustion model. Expect it to come with dual 12.3-inch displays, touch-based climate controls, a panoramic sunroof, level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats and more.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functions are also likely to be offered. Two battery sizes are expected to be on offer- 42 kWh and 49 kWh. The carmaker will likely give the Syros EV a competitive pricing, as well.

Hyundai is working on a new, heavily localised, sub-compact electric SUV for the Indian market. Called the HE1i, the production form of this will compete primarily with the Tata Nexon.EV. Test mules have already been spotted in Mumbai, indicating rapid progress in the project. This e-SUV will have a tall stance, boxy design, smooth panels and clean lines. It seems to differ sharply from the Inster with its design, packaging, appeal and even wheelbase.
This electric SUV will use locally sourced LFP battery packs- likely 42kWh and 49kWh units-, and will have a high degree of localisation gone into its manufacturing. This EV will be based on Hyundai's E-GMP (K) platform. It will have a feature-rich cabin and likely a competitive price tag. Market launch is expected in late 2026.

The latest launch from Vinfast in India has been the VF MPV 7 electric MPV. Later this year, the Vietnamese carmaker will also launch the VF3 here. It will then become the most affordable offering in its lineup. The VF3 is essentially a tiny two-door electric SUV designed for urban buyers. It will come with an 18.64 kWh battery pack, claimed to deliver around 215km in range.
Despite its compact proportions, the VF3 is expected to come with features like a 10-inch infotainment system and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. In India, it will compete primarily with the MG Comet. Vinfast hasn’t revealed a launch window for this product, but we expect it to happen in the second half of this year.

Another launch expected this year from Vinfast is the VF5. This sub-four metre electric SUV will come with two battery packs- likely 29.6 kWh and 37.23 kWh- delivering range figures of 268 km and 326 km, respectively. When launched, the VF5 will also compete with the Nexon.EV, and will sit between the VF3 and VF6, in Vinfast’s portfolio.
Like other Vinfast models, this e-SUV will also come with features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, PM 2.5 air filter, sunroof, voice commands and more. Launch is expected around the festive season.

The last one in this list is the Binguo- a small electric hatchback that MG plans to launch in India in late 2026 or early 2027. It will sit between the Comet EV and Windsor EV in MG’s lineup, and will have a more practical, conventional hatchback design.
The Binguo is likely to be offered with two battery packs- 31.9 kWh and 37.9 kWh with claimed ranges of 333km and 410 km respectively. There will be support for DC fast charging as well.
Despite being a small electric hatchback, the Binguo will come with features like dual 10.25-inch screens. It will have a cabin that feels upmarket. Pricing is likely to fall between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom.
