
The Chinese electric automotive giant BYD has announced that, to commemorate the first anniversary of its flagship electric SUV, the Sealion 7, in India, it will be launching the Sealion 7 First Anniversary Edition in India. The company has currently commenced bookings for the Sealion 7 First Anniversary Edition on March 17, and interested buyers can reserve one with a booking amount of Rs 70,000.

BYD India has announced that only the first 1,100 buyers of the Sealion 7 First Anniversary Edition will receive a complimentary 11 kW home charger with their cars. It has also announced that the installation for this charger will be free, and the first two years of service and maintenance of the vehicle will also be free.
It also has to be noted that the offer will be applicable only on bookings made till April 30, 2026. In terms of pricing, the BYD Sealion 7 is available in two variants, namely Premium and Performance, and the former is priced at Rs 49.40 lakh, while the latter is priced at Rs 54.90 lakh. Both of these variants are offered with an 82.56 kWh battery pack.

The BYD Sealion 7 First Anniversary Edition will be offered with a new Tahiti Blue interior theme, which will offer a more premium appeal. It will continue to offer the ocean-inspired design philosophy. Apart from these, the electric SUV will continue to offer the same 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, nappa leather seats, 128-color ambient lighting, panoramic glass roof, 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, ventilated and heated seats, and many others.
As mentioned above, the BYD Sealion 7 First Anniversary Edition is confirmed to get the same 82.56 kWh Blade battery, which is BYD’s proprietary battery pack. The Premium variant of this SUV offers a range of 567 km and can do a sprint of 0–100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds. Meanwhile, the Performance variant can do the same in just 4.5 seconds but offers a lower range of 542 km on a single full charge.

To achieve these figures, the Performance variant gets a dual electric motor setup, which makes 523 bhp and 690 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Premium variant gets a single electric motor making 313 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. Both variants support 150 kW fast charging capabilities.
Other notable highlights of the BYD Sealion 7 include Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, which integrates the battery into the chassis, improving structural rigidity and safety. It also gets iTAC, which stands for Intelligence Torque Adaptation Control, enhancing traction and driving dynamics. Lastly, the BYD Sealion 7 also gets a Vehicle-To-Load feature as well.

In the last month of February, BYD India managed to dispatch a total of 306 units, which helped it achieve 10.07 percent year-on-year growth, as in the same month last year its sales were 278 units. As for month-on-month sales, it managed to grow by 32.47 percent, as its sales in January were 231 units.
When compared to the Vietnamese electric carmaker VinFast, which recently entered the Indian automotive market, there is a decent gap. It has been reported that from January 1 till March 3, VinFast managed to sell 850+ units, while BYD only managed to sell 550+ units. Currently, BYD stands at the 8th position in the Indian electric vehicle market.
