Normal compact SUVs are now not enough for Indian car buyers. As a result of this, a number of carmakers are now gearing up for the launch of extremely butch-looking SUVs for the Indian market. So if you are also someone who wants to know which new macho-looking SUVs are coming to India, then you have come to the right spot.

Based on the newest architecture, the NU_IQ modular platform, the Vision S will be the brand's offering in the mid-size SUV segment. This SUV has taken its design inspiration from the Ford Bronco and the Land Rover Defender luxury SUVs. It boasts a boxy and butch design consisting of strong body lines and an upright stance.
At the front it will get circular LED headlights and a six-slat grille. Meanwhile, on the side it will come with chunky side claddings and tall window lines with large windows. As for the rear, it will get a spare tyre and LED taillights, and overall it will look very bold. It is expected to make its official debut by the end of this year or by early next year. The Vision S will be offered with 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol engines, and it will be priced in the range of Rs 10 to 20 lakh.

Although it will not be a big SUV, the Vietnamese electric carmaker VinFast is gearing up for the launch of the VF3 retro electric SUV, which will be aimed at urban buyers. This micro electric SUV will boast a modern retro and boxy design with SUV-like proportions. At the front it will get halogen headlights, the VinFast V logo with a chrome grille, a bold front bumper, and chunky side claddings.
It is expected to make its debut by October of this year, and pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 8 to 10 lakh. Powertrain options will include a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 43 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. As for the battery pack, it could get an 18.64 kWh unit offering a range of 210–215 km on a single full charge.

The upcoming sub-compact EV SUV offering from Kia, which will be the Syros EV, is another butch-looking SUV that will be making its debut in India very soon. In terms of the overall design, it will look similar to the ICE model and continue to offer the boxy, upright, and tall-boy design with sharp body lines and SUV-like proportions. However, there will be a number of EV-specific design cues.
The Syros EV will be launched in the second quarter of this year, around April–June. As for the pricing, it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 14 to 20 lakh. Battery pack options of the Kia Syros EV will be 42 kWh and 49 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) units offering a range of 350 to 400 km.

On 10 March, Renault revealed its third upcoming SUV in India, and it has been named the Bridger. This SUV will be based on the R-GMP (Renault Group Modular Platform) and has been dubbed as a “mini Duster.” This SUV has also taken its design inspiration from the Land Rover Defender luxury SUV. At the front it will get W-shaped LED DRLs, Renault lettering on a black grille, a simple yet bold front bumper, chunky side claddings, large alloy wheels, and a spare tyre mounted on the tailgate.
The Renault Bridger will be officially launched during the festive season of 2027. Initially, it will be offered with the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine as the Duster, and there are also reports which have highlighted that it may get a new 1.2-litre NA petrol engine which is currently under development. Following which, it is expected to get strong hybrid and electric powertrain options as well. Pricing-wise, it will be launched in the range of Rs 8–14 lakh.

Like almost all other models, Nissan will also be launching its own version of the Renault Bridger in India. It too will boast a similar boxy design with an upright stance and all the other lifestyle off-roader design cues. As for the other highlights such as the powertrain and features, they will remain the same as the Renault Bridger. Most likely, Nissan's version of the Bridger will be launched in 2028.
