There was a time when Tata Motors had a number of proper 4x4 SUVs in its lineup, including the Safari, Hexa, and others. However, currently, the only thing closest to a 4x4 is the Harrier.ev, which comes with QWD (Quad Wheel Drive, which is basically AWD in fancy terms). However, soon things will be changing, and we can say this because there are 6 new Tata SUVs that are in the launch cards, which will get 4x4 and AWD systems. Now, if you want to know which new Tata cars will be offering a proper 4x4 system, then here are the details.

To bank on the success of the Sierra ICE, Tata Motors will soon be launching the Sierra.ev in India. This SUV will be more special because it will be one of the first mass-market EVs in the country to offer an all-wheel-drive system.
In terms of design, the Sierra EV will look very similar to its ICE counterpart. It will boast signature elements like the panoramic rear glass and clamshell tailgate. However, it will also get EV-specific design touches such as a closed-off grille and aero-optimised alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Sierra EV is expected to come loaded with features. It will most likely get a triple-screen setup, which includes the infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and a passenger display. Other features will include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, a 12-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, and Level 2 ADAS.
The Sierra.ev is expected to come with two battery pack options, including 55 kWh and 65 kWh units. It will offer a real-world range of around 350 to 450 km. The AWD version is expected to get an even larger 75 kWh battery pack. The Sierra.ev will be launched on May 19, 2026, and is expected to be priced between Rs 14 to 23 lakh (ex-showroom).

The next SUV on this list is the Tata Safari.ev, which will be another major launch from the brand this year. It will sit on top of the Tata EV lineup in India. The Safari.ev will offer a 7-seater configuration to rival the Mahindra XEV 9S.
Like the Harrier.ev, it too will be offered with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options. The real-world range is expected to be between 450 to 500 km. In terms of features, Tata Motors is expected to offer additional features such as LED lighting, 19-inch alloy wheels, a 540-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, auto park assist, summon mode, and many others. The Safari.ev will also be launched on May 19 and will be priced in the range of Rs 18 to 28 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Motors is also preparing to enter the premium electric vehicle space with the Avinya range. This will not be a single model but a completely new lineup of EVs. The Avinya will be based on a highly advanced 800V architecture derived from Jaguar Land Rover.
It is expected to offer battery packs of 80 kWh and 100 kWh. As per the reports, its range will be around 500 to 720 km. The interior of the Avinya will be extremely futuristic, and it will offer a flat floor layout and a very spacious cabin. The Avinya will also be sold through dedicated premium retail outlets. The Avinya is expected to be introduced by late 2026 or early 2027, and its pricing could range between Rs 50 to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).

Apart from the EV version, Tata Motors is also working on an all-wheel-drive version of the Sierra ICE. This SUV will be based on the ARGOS platform, which supports AWD systems. It will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options, including the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine.
The Sierra AWD will also come loaded with features such as a triple-screen layout, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and all the other features as the current Sierra. The Tata Sierra AWD is expected to make its debut around early 2027 and will likely be priced between Rs 13 to Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tata Harrier has always been a strong product, however, its lack of AWD has been a major drawback. Now, it has been reported that the company will be offering the new-generation Harrier with a proper 4x4 system. This will be made possible due to the OMEGA architecture.
It will also get multiple powertrain options, including the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, the time-tested 2.0-litre diesel engine, and an electric version. The new Harrier will also become slightly larger in size and will come with a completely updated interior and new technology.
The Tata Harrier 4x4 is expected to launch by the end of 2027 and will be priced between Rs 18 to 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

The final SUV on this list is the Safari, and it will also be getting back the 4x4 system. The new Safari will be based on the same platform as the Harrier and will be bigger in size. This increased size will improve space and comfort, especially for third-row passengers.
It will also be offered with petrol, diesel, and electric powertrain options along with 4x4 capability. The Tata Safari 4x4 is expected to launch in 2028 and could be priced between Rs 20 to Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom).
