
Despite the government of India making it harder for automakers to sell diesel cars in the country, India's largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra Automotive, is gearing up to launch not one but 5 new diesel SUVs. Starting off the list is the Scorpio-N facelift, which is expected to arrive in August. Most likely, Mahindra will be launching the updated model at its Independence Day event. This mid-cycle update will include fresh styling and more features.
Powering the facelifted Scorpio-N will be the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine. This engine produces 172 bhp and up to 400 Nm of torque, depending on the variant. It will be offered with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, along with optional 4WD.
On the outside, the facelift will get a redesigned front grille, new sleeker LED headlamps, updated bumpers, and new 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, we can expect a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and even a panoramic sunroof on higher variants. Once launched, the Scorpio-N facelift is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 14 lakh to Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom).

Next on the list is the Scorpio Classic facelift, which most likely will also be launched in August. The Scorpio Classic will continue to cater to buyers who want a more rugged SUV than the Scorpio-N. This new facelifted model will not get any drastic changes but will receive minor updates to keep it fresh.
It will continue to be powered by the time-tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, which produces 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. As for the design updates, they will include a revised grille, updated bumpers, and minor tweaks to lighting elements.
On the inside, it could get an improved infotainment system and better-quality materials. The pricing is expected to remain around Rs 13 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra is also working on a brand-new pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N platform. It was earlier showcased as the Global Pik Up concept, and this lifestyle pickup is expected to launch later this year. Mechanically, it will share its engine with the Scorpio N. This means it will get the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine producing up to 172 bhp and 400 Nm of torque.
It will be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options, along with a proper 4x4 system. In terms of design, the front will look similar to the Scorpio-N. However, the rear will feature a large cargo bed, which will add to its practicality.
Apart from the rugged exterior, the interior will be loaded with creature comfort features similar to the Scorpio-N. Pricing of the Scorpio Pik Up is expected to be in the range of Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on rivals like the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux.

Finally, Mahindra, which is the largest SUV manufacturer in India, will be entering the most popular mid-size SUV segment with a product that will be modern and practical. The Mahindra Vision S will be based on the newly launched NU-IQ platform. This SUV will target a wide audience by offering both petrol and diesel options.
The diesel version will most likely be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, which produces around 115 to 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include both manual and automatic gearboxes.
In terms of design, the Vision S will feature a bold and rugged look inspired by the concept model, with circular LED headlamps, chunky body cladding, and a high ground clearance. Inside the cabin, it will get a large touchscreen, digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS. The launch is expected to take place by late 2026 or early 2027, with pricing likely to be in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

Last on the list is the Mahindra Thar facelift, which has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads. This time around, the three-door model will be getting a ROXX-like front grille, circular LED headlamps with LED DRLs, revised bumpers, and new alloy wheels. On the inside, it could get updated seat upholstery and minor feature additions.
The Thar will continue with its 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, producing 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, along with 4x4 capability. It will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The 1.5-litre diesel motor will also be on offer. It is expected to launch later this year, with a price range of around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). What makes the Thar special is its unmatched off-road capability, combined with a strong diesel engine, which delivers excellent low-end torque.
