Most people who drive a lot want a vehicle that can offer them high fuel efficiency. However, as diesel-engined cars are getting extinct, strong hybrids are expected to replace them. Due to this, a number of automakers are gearing up for the launch of hybrid cars, and this year we will be seeing the launch of 5 new affordable strong hybrid cars in India. So, without any delay, here are the details of these upcoming affordable strong hybrid SUVs.

The French automaker Renault has already launched the new-generation Duster with a price tag of Rs 10.49 lakh. There are three engines on offer, of which the third, which is the 1.8-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and a battery pack, has become a very popular choice amongst Duster buyers. It has been reported by the company that the entire 2026 batch of the strong hybrid version is already sold out.
It will start delivering the strong hybrid version of the Duster in the festive season of this year, and the pricing will be revealed at that time. Renault has also highlighted that the bookings for the strong hybrid powertrain will again commence from Diwali this year. The Duster will be priced around Rs 19 to 23 lakh.

Based on the same CMF-B architecture as the Duster, Nissan's mid-size SUV will also be launched with the same strong hybrid system. Both the Duster and the Tekton will get the 1.8-litre petrol engine, which will come assisted with two electric motors. There will be a 20 bhp generator and a 49 bhp motor to power the wheels, and a 1.4 kWh battery pack.
When combined with the petrol engine, the entire setup will make 160 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. Both SUVs will get a multi-mode 8-speed automatic gearbox and will offer three different driving modes, including EV-only, ICE-only, and hybrid mode. They will also get regenerative braking as well. It has been reported that this powertrain will offer a mileage of 25+ kmpl. The Tekton Hybrid will be priced in the range of Rs 19 to 23 lakh.

Another highly anticipated strong hybrid SUV is the 7-seater version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It is expected to make its debut later this year. Recently, a test mule of this SUV was spotted testing in North India. It was noted that the test mule had a longer overhang and a stretched side profile.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which will get the same strong hybrid system as the standard Hyryder. It will produce 103 bhp and offer a mileage of 28 kmpl. Transmission duties will be handled by an e-CVT gearbox, and there are reports that it could get an AWD system. Once launched, it will take on the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar.

Later this year, around the festive season, the Japanese automaker Honda is planning to launch the strong hybrid version of its popular mid-size SUV, Elevate, in India. This SUV will be borrowing the same 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, which comes with an electric motor and an e-CVT gearbox, as seen on the Honda City e:HEV.
This vehicle will also offer a high fuel efficiency of 25+ kmpl and will take on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Pricing of the Elevate Hybrid will be around Rs 18–20 lakh.

The last SUV on this list to get a strong hybrid powertrain will be the MG 520. This SUV will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 and, unlike the standard strong hybrid powertrain, it will boast a 1.5-litre petrol engine assisted by an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery pack.
Together, this powertrain will produce 197 bhp and 230 Nm of torque and will offer a pure electric range of 100 km. It is believed that the MG 520 will make its official debut by October 2026, with pricing in the range of Rs 15–25 lakh.
