Skoda finally launched the 2026 Kushaq in the Indian market at an exciting starting price of Rs 10.69 lakh, ex-showroom. Now that Skoda has officially launched the Kushaq, Volkswagen is also preparing to showcase the facelift of the Taigun, which is based on the same platform as the Kushaq. We have already started spotting production-ready versions of the Taigun on the roads. It looks like Volkswagen is finally ready with the update and will be revealing the Taigun facelift in the market next month. What can we expect from the 2026 Taigun facelift? Let’s find out.

The exterior of the Volkswagen Taigun will see a few changes, making the SUV more relevant in this extremely competitive segment. The headlamps and the front grille on the Taigun will be revised in such a way that it resembles larger Volkswagen SUVs like the Tayron and Tiguan sold in India and abroad.
The headlamps will be sleeker and are expected to come with a connecting LED bar. We may also see an illuminated Volkswagen logo in the centre. The bumper of the Taigun will also be revised and is expected to feature a large lower air dam with dark or matte grey faux skid plates. The fog lamps will be integrated into the bumper and will feature a new design.

Coming to the side, we expect the overall silhouette and design of the SUV to remain unchanged, as this is only a facelift. However, we may see a new set of alloy wheel designs on the Taigun.
At the rear, the boxy, gloss-black-dominant tail lamp cluster is likely to remain similar, but with updated LED elements. We may also see a connecting LED bar here, along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo at the rear. Additionally, the bumper is expected to be revised with updated reflectors.
The cabin design and layout of the Taigun are expected to remain similar to the outgoing model. The main change could be in the form of a new interior colour theme to give a fresh feel.

Apart from this, the SUV will continue to offer features like electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and more.
We may also see new additions such as a panoramic sunroof, rear seat massage function, and several other features. Volkswagen is also expected to offer features like auto-dimming IRVM, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, six airbags, ABS, and rear disc brakes (on the 1.5 TSI version) as standard.

Coming to the engine options, the Taigun facelift will continue with the same turbo petrol engines. The 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder engine will generate 115 PS and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be available with a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

The 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine will produce 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque and will be offered with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Like the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen is expected to launch the Taigun at an aggressive price, along with a well-equipped base variant.
