The Toyota Fortuner continues to be in great demand in India. This D-segment SUV has built a strong fan-following in the country. It was not long ago that Toyota brought back the Leader edition on the Fortuner. First launched in 2024, this special edition was loved by many for the value it packed. The proposition remains largely the same on its return as well. Anurag Imley, a YouTuber, has now shared a detailed video walkaround of the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition.
The vehicle shown in this video is the Fortuner Leader edition 4x2 manual. It is finished in White, and has its pillars and roof painted Black.
The host starts by showing the keyfob. It looks stylish and has the lock/unlock buttons and a Toyota logo. We can also see a button to open and close the electric tailgate. The video, however, doesn’t mention it to be part of the package. The fob even has a Fortuner logo on its backside.

The Youtuber then talks about the design changes on the Leader edition. Styling updates are the biggest highlight of this edition. It gets a redesigned front grille and a new front bumper with a Silver skid plate and fog lamps. The grille is now finished in Gloss Black and looks brilliant. The SUV also gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs and front parking sensors (two in number). The Leader edition seems to have slightly more road presence than the regular SUV.
The dual-tone paint scheme is more visible in the side view. The wheel arches get Black finish as well. There is also a careful use of Chrome accents. At the rear, one can spot wiper, defogger, reflectors, a slightly restyled rear bumper, rear spoiler, and LED tail lamps connected by a gloss Black applique.
The Leader edition offers 296 litres of boot space and comes with a powered tailgate. The host also shows where the tool kit and jack are placed in the SUV, and how to access them. They are kept well concealed.

The YouTuber then moves inside. The cabin has a Black-Burgundy dual-tone colour scheme. It looks more upmarket than that of the regular SUV and comes decently kitted. It needs to be mentioned here that people do not buy a Fortuner hoping to get a long list of features, electronics and gizmos.

Even so, the Leader edition comes with auto-folding ORVMs, illuminated scuff plates, six-speaker audio (4 speakers and 2 tweeters), dual-zone climate control, 12V charging socket for rear occupants, 12-way adjustable driver’s seat, front seat ventilation, steering-mounted controls, analogue instrument cluster with digital MID, ECO mode, touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected functions like SOS, voice commands, automatic headlamps, reverse parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The SUV lacks C-type USB points and comes with A-type units instead.

The host then shows the engine bay of the Leader Edition Fortuner. This SUV comes with the familiar 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 201 bhp and 500 Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes can be had with it. The vehicle in this case had the former. The biggest compromise on the Leader Edition is that it is only available with a 4x2 configuration.
The Leader edition comes with a standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty, extendable up to 5 years/220,000 km and the company is also offering attractive financing options.
