Indian billionaire Yohan Poonawalla is an avid car enthusiast and owns a multi-crore garage. After the A80 Supra, he has now added a brand-new 2025 Nissan GTR R35 NISMO to his collection. The iconic Japanese sports car has been brought as a private import, and pictures of the same have now surfaced online.
First things first, this is India’s only R35 GTR NISMO edition. Content shared by Neville Vazifdar on Instagram shows the R35 GTR NISMO Edition parked in what looks like the Poonawalla mansion. Some of his other cars can also be seen parked nearby. It has a NISMO-spec Stealth Gray paint.
The GTR is one of the most iconic sports cars of all times. Its production came to an end in 2025, with the R35 being the final generation. Poonawalla’s car is likely to be one of the final few examples. The GTR itself was a powerful sports car. Powered by a 473hp, 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine, it did the 0-100kph sprint in just 3.3 seconds.

The NISMO edition is for those who aren’t impressed by the same. It took things to a whole new level. The V6, in this case, is capable of producing 600hp. This is a tuner-friendly engine. The NISMO edition was capable of doing the 0-100kph run in under 3.0 seconds.
Such brutal performance doesn’t come cheap. The GT-R NISMO variants are priced from 3,00,85,000 Yen (roughly 1.7 Crore rupees) in Japan. Since this is a private import, the billionaire likely paid a tax of around 150-200 percent, including 100% Basic Customs Duty.
Now, here’s the more interesting part. Nissan had launched the (regular) R35 GTR in India in 2016. Back then, it had an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.99 Crores for the standard variants. The NISMOs never made it to our shores.

The NISMO Special Edition is the most brutal that (the road-going guise of) this generation of the GTR got. The design makes generous use of Carbon fiber (CF) elements. CF can be seen on the hood, bumpers, roof, and fenders. Even the trunk lid is made of the same. This generous use has helped in reducing the net weight significantly.

Compared to the regular variants, the NISMO Special Edition GTR is much lighter over the nose. It has a lower center of gravity and better front-to-rear weight distribution. It grips the road firmer around corners and is more stable at high speeds than the regular car. The trunk lid was, in fact, reshaped to generate more downforce, and even has a competition-derived ‘swan neck’ rear spoiler.

Adding more exclusivity to the car, the NISMO special edition comes with a ‘Special Edition Takumi certification plate’. It rides on 20-inch NISMO Black Rays forged alloy wheels. The front and rear fascias have also been redesigned. The car features NISMO-spec front lip, canards, and grille, carbon-fiber side sills, and fender vents.

On the mechanical front, the V6 (VR38DETT) comes mated to a GR6 dual-clutch transmission. The car also employs a new mechanical front limited-slip differential and a limited-slip unit at the rear. Braking is handled by Carbon ceramic units, which are lighter and offer good friction.
Handling 600hp and insane acceleration isn’t easy. The NISMO special edition uses a competition-derived suspension setup to do the same effectively. It uses custom-developed Bilstein DampTronic dampers and delivers exceptional grip levels and great handling. These may not suit daily driving needs though. Vazifdar has shared a video on Instagram in which we can see the brutal acceleration of the GTR NISMO special edition.
