Roads in India are becoming extremely scary. We are saying this not because of the pathetic condition that drivers have to face while driving, but rather because of the increasing scams on the roads which are meant to extort money from innocent drivers. Recently, a video showing how a dashcam managed to save a truck driver from getting scammed has been shared online. In this clip, a woman was seen stopping a truck and sleeping in front of it on a highway to extort money.
The video showing this particular road scam has been shared on Reddit. The exact location where this scam took place has not been mentioned in the post. However, the dashcam details have mentioned that the video was recorded from a vehicle registered in Haryana. What happens in this clip is that the truck was driving at a normal speed of 47–50 kmph on a highway.

Soon after this, we can note that an old woman holding a stick was walking on the road. Initially, it seemed like she was trying to cross the road. However, what happens next is that instead of walking ahead, she stops and lays down on the road right in front of the truck. It can be observed that the truck was stopped way before she completely laid on the road.
As for the other details, a Hyundai Verna sedan was also seen slowing down and then completely stopping on the side of the road. Moving ahead in the video, it can be seen that the driver of this truck immediately came out to check on the woman, and he can be seen standing in front of her and trying to talk.

During this time, we can note that the occupants from the Verna started walking towards the driver, with one of them holding his smartphone and recording the video of this incident. They then start talking to the truck driver and recording him and the number plate of his truck.
However, after some time of going back and forth, the driver points out that there is a dashcam installed on the truck, soon after which the person recording the video stops, and they start talking to the woman and other people who were stopping on the road to check out what happened.

For those who may not be aware, this is a new scam on Indian roads where someone will walk in front of a vehicle on the road and act in a way that they have been hit. Now, generally, these scammers take advantage of the fact that most cars in India do not have a dashcam to record their scam. And when they stop a car, they start extorting money from the drivers with the help of either accomplices or strangers on the road, using their sympathy.

Thankfully, in this particular case, the truck had a dashcam installed inside, which recorded the evidence. Because if no dashcam had been in the truck, the people on the road would have harassed the driver into paying the woman money on the spot. Nowadays, these scams can take place anywhere, which is why it is extremely important for everyone to install a dashcam in their vehicle.
