Toyota unveiled the all-new Land Cruiser FJ recently. It is actually the youngest member of the Land Cruiser family and will be officially launched in Japan by mid-2026. In the last couple of days, we have come across several reports about the new Land Cruiser FJ. Toyota has now released a new TVC where we get to see two sides of the new FJ.
The video has been shared by Toyota Motor Corporation on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ in an urban background. It is actually a digitally rendered video, and the Land Cruiser FJ showcased is a concept. The SUV is seen moving through the urban jungle, where it is shown driving through the streets. We see the C-shaped LED DRLs and squared headlamps.
In the first part of the video, we see the FJ as most people would use it on a daily basis. It has a decent boot, and we see luggage kept in the rear as well. In the next part of the video, we see a transition where the Land Cruiser FJ is moving from the urban area to a jungle or an off-road trail section.
Like most Land Cruiser SUVs, the new FJ is also a capable off-roader. The second version or variant of the FJ gets cosmetic changes like rugged-looking cladding, a different headlamp design with circular LED DRLs, and a different front grille. This reminds us more of the FJ Cruiser from the 2000s. Even the bumper on this version has shorter overhangs, and the SUV is available with a different set of wheels, a snorkel, and thicker cladding. The rear door-mounted spare wheel is common on both versions.

Toyota is also offering a bunch of accessories that will be available to customers who want to take the SUV off-road. In terms of dimensions, the Land Cruiser FJ is smaller than the Fortuner. It is 4,574 mm long, 1,854 mm wide, and 1,960 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. It is based on Toyota’s IMV platform - the same platform that Toyota uses for its light commercial pickup truck, the Toyota Hilux Champ.
Toyota mentioned that the bumpers on the Land Cruiser FJ are modular and removable. This would allow customers to replace only damaged sections. The cabin on both these variants is likely to look more or less the same. It would come with a minimalistic-looking cabin design.
The cabin design also looks inspired by the Prado. The rugged nature of the vehicle is reflected here too. The cabin follows a horizontal layout that gives it an airy feel. There is a large touchscreen infotainment system with round AC vents and physical buttons on the center console.
Land Cruiser SUVs are all known for their diesels, but this compact SUV will be offered with a petrol engine only. It will come with the same 2.7-litre petrol engine as the Toyota Fortuner. This engine generates 161 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with part-time four-wheel drive.
