India as a country holds a lot of potential and that is the reason why we see new brands entering our market with ICE and EV models. Maruti Suzuki has been the market leader for decades now. At the moment, Maruti only has the Jimny as a proper 4x4 offering in their line-up. Toyota, which is a popular Japanese carmaker, has also introduced a new 4x4 SUV, the Land Cruiser FJ, internationally. There are reports that the FJ will make its way to Indian shores too. Here we have a social media post that shows how different these two SUVs are in terms of size.
The images have been posted by Fuel Car Magazine on their Instagram page. In this post, we see the front, side, and rear of both these SUVs getting compared to each other. This way, we get a clear idea of how big or small both these vehicles are.
Starting with the front, both SUVs get a typical boxy design. Both look imposing but the Toyota FJ has better road presence. It looks a bit more imposing probably because of the thick front grille, larger headlamps, and C-shaped LED DRLs.
Coming to the dimensions, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is 1.86 metres wide, while the Maruti Jimny is 1.65 metres wide. Coming to the side profile, you start noticing more differences, as the Toyota is clearly longer. It is, in fact, 4.58 metres long, while the Jimny is only 3.98 metres long. Coming to the height, Toyota takes the lead here as well. It is 1.96 metres tall, while the Jimny is 1.72 metres tall.
The Jimny is not just smaller in size but it is also a smaller SUV in terms of engine size and performance. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 102 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque with part-time 4WD.
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, on the other hand, is powered by a 2.7 litre petrol engine that also powers the Fortuner in India. This engine generates 161 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque.
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ was initially thought to be the successor to the FJ Cruiser which was sold in the market. However, this is an all-new SUV. Toyota will offer two versions of the FJ in the market. The bumpers and headlamps on the FJ are customisable. This modular and removable bumper would allow customers to replace only damaged sections.
While Toyota has unveiled the SUV, the official launch will happen sometime in mid-2026 in Japan. Toyota has showcased two versions or variants of the Land Cruiser FJ. In terms of looks, both these versions have cosmetic differences.
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ offers a minimalistic-looking cabin design. The cabin design also looks inspired by the Prado. The rugged nature of the vehicle is reflected here as well. The cabin follows a horizontal layout that gives it an airy feel. There is a large touchscreen infotainment system with round AC vents and physical buttons on the centre console.
