The recently-launched Tata Sierra has created a lot of buzz among mid-size SUV buyers. Deliveries have already started commencing, and most dealerships now have demo and display units as well. We recently saw people installing aftermarket wheels on the Sierra. Tata Motors’ design team was well aware of the Indian urge to customise cars, while designing the product. The Sierra offers two factory accessorisation packages- the ROQ and ROQ+ editions. A recent video shared on the YouTube channel Car Cupeedz shows the ROQ edition up close.
Tata Motors had showcased the Sierra ROQ+ edition at the media drive event. Even in later sightings, we saw the ROQ edition in shades like Grey and Munnar Mist. In this video, we see the ROQ edition finished in the signature Yellow (Andaman Adventure) colour.

As the video opens, we see a fully accessorised Yellow Sierra parked in front of Dev Tata, a dealer in Maharashtra. The video shows it in detail. The ROQ accessories package includes a separate plastic cladding for the front grille with ‘SIERRA’ written on it in a more prominent way, textured Black inserts on the bonnet, an additional cladding/ panel for the rear hatch, a front skid plate, rear skid plate, wheel arch cladding, hood scoop, B-pillar garnish, rear window line cladding, and a fender garnish.

The video shows all of these in close detail and we can even see the host touching some of these accessories and feeling their respective textures. There is no change to the alloy wheel design.
This seems to be the dealership’s demo vehicle. The ROQ edition package brings about notable changes in the actual visual impression. This is mainly because of the fact that it tweaks (read: hides) the unique front grille and clamshell-shaped tailgate, atleast partially.

Moreover, it tweaks the ‘large, curved out’ rear window glasses. So overall, the design looks significantly different when accessorised fully. The ROQ edition accessories package has a combined worth of Rs 41,000.

In addition to this, Tata Motors is also offering a ROQ+ package on the Sierra, which is more expensive and adds even more accessories to the vehicle. These aren’t, however, mere cosmetic enhancements.
The ROQ+ package adds functional add-ons to the vehicle. These include a Black meta roof rack, a foldable metal side ladder and Sierra-branded side steps. The side step can be bought separately as well. The ladder, however, is bolted onto the roof rack. The rack comes with risers that prevent the sunroof from hitting or rubbing against it, post-installation.
The roof rack itself is bolted onto the vehicle’s stock roof rails. Unlike many mid-size SUVs that keep roof rails as mere cosmetic enhancements, the Sierra comes with functional ones. These are available on the Adventure trim and above. The ROQ+ kit can thus be installed only on these variants.

We think that the ROQ+ package- the roof rack, side ladder (both finished in Black) and the side step will look the best on a Yellow Sierra. Time remains before someone builds it, completely omitting the ROQ package that tends to overdo the design.
Together, the ROQ and ROQ+ kits will cost a buyer approximately Rs 96,000. The ROQ+ alone has a price of Rs 55,000.
In addition to the two mentioned above, Tata Motors is also offering a ‘Signature kit’ on the Sierra. It adds Chrome at various places of the exterior bodywork- under the front grille, windows, tail lights and more.
