Tata Motors launched the all-new Tata Sierra last year, and official deliveries began this year. In just 45 days, Tata managed to deliver over 10,000 units of the Sierra to customers. There is already a long waiting period for this SUV, and many owners have started exploring aftermarket customisation options.
Here, we have a video where a customer drove all the way from Jaipur to Delhi to get his base Smart Plus variant Sierra modified to resemble a higher variant.
The video has been shared by Mittra On Wheels on their YouTube channel. In the video, the SUV seen was recently purchased by the customer, who wanted to customise it according to his preferences. He had been following a car modification shop in Delhi for some time and was impressed with their work. That made the decision easier, and he dropped off the vehicle and picked it up three days later after the work was completed.
Since this was the base variant, it did not come with many premium features. Both the exterior and interior underwent significant changes as part of the project. The customisation shop sourced an original Defender-style kit from Tata and installed it on the vehicle, as aftermarket parts for the new Sierra are still not widely available.
At the front, the SUV now gets thick black cladding with Sierra branding. It also features a bumper kit that adds more muscle to the front profile. On the bonnet, there are plastic inserts inspired by the Defender’s styling, along with fender garnishes and cladding around the wheel arches. The customer also opted for sturdy side steps to make entry and exit easier.

From the side, the SUV gets Defender-style graphics and additional garnishes on the B-pillar and rear fender. The stock steel wheels have been replaced with 18-inch aftermarket alloy wheels.
At the rear, the owner chose thick matte black cladding on the tailgate with Sierra branding. The rear bumper also gets an additional skirting kit to enhance the overall rugged look.
The shop also added a genuine Tata parcel tray. Inside the cabin, several upgrades were made. The fabric seats from the base variant were completely redone and now feature tan and black dual-tone perforated leatherette upholstery. Soft-touch materials were also added to the door pads. The stitching quality and materials appear premium in the video.
The owner also installed a premium audio system with a subwoofer and amplifier, along with an aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system. However, he was not interested in adding ambient lighting, roof racks, or other additional accessories.
He was satisfied with the final outcome. The Sierra featured in the video is the diesel manual version, and the base Smart Plus diesel variant is priced at ₹12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Many buyers opt for such aftermarket modifications instead of purchasing a higher variant, as it can be more affordable and allows them to pay only for the features they actually want.
