In recent years, we have seen many instances of people celebrating their new car purchases by sharing viral reels on social media. People receiving them in a flashy setting, wearing fancy clothes, are common finds on platforms like Instagram. Recently, a reel went viral showing a family taking delivery of a brand-new Tata Punch, with the lady wearing a blouse that has ‘PUNCH’ written at its back. The clip soon got the internet interested.
This video was shared by Avinash Rupnure and Riya Avinash Rupnure on Instagram. The couple bought their new car, a Tata Punch, in early November. Several videos have been shared on their profiles showing various moments from the delivery day. In one of the clips, we see Riya walking towards the Punch, in a classy Grey saree. She is wearing a customized blouse which has a low back cut and a strip of fabric with ‘PUNCH’ written on it! Fancy right?
In another video, we see Riya doing aarti on the Punch, wearing the same. Here too, the ‘PUNCH’ lettering on her blouse is clearly visible. This couple has bought the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version of the Punch. It is available in five colours, including three dual-tones. This couple has bought the Daytona Grey.

The lady’s outfit matches the car colour in some way. Look closely, and you’ll find that the entire outfit is a tribute to Tata Motors. The saree has Tata logos lining its edges. The internet loved the video. At the time of writing, it has had over 2.1 million views.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we have seen this idea on Instagram. Previously, another Instagrammer had also shared a video of taking delivery of a Maruti Ertiga. In that case, ‘ERTIGA’ was written on her dress.

This was indeed a unique way of making the new car delivery special. It shows the family’s love for the Punch and Tata Motors. The Punch is, in fact, the second most-sold Tata model in India. The video managed to connect instantly with existing owners of this micro-SUV. Many of them showed up in the comments section.
‘Punch best car ever’ wrote a user, while another said ‘I am a Tata Punch lover’. Another user commented: ‘Punch. Middle-class Hindustani ki dhadkan’ (translating to ‘Punch. the heartbeat of the average middle-class Indian’ ). Very true. The Punch caters mostly to middle-class buyers who are in search of a safe, value-packed mini-SUV.
A user even mentioned the official Instagram handle of Tata Punch, asking the people there to appreciate her efforts. The handle hasn’t responded to this yet.

Tata Motors is working on a facelift for the Punch. Test mule sightings have increased in the recent past, indicating an imminent launch. The facelift will come with minor cosmetic upgrades and more features. One of the main reasons for its widespread adoption is the long list of powertrains on offer.
This SUV is available in petrol, CNG and all-electric variants. These will remain the same on the facelift as well. We expect the new ICE Punch to retain the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine and CNG dual-fuel engine of the current model. A corresponding update is likely to be introduced on the EV later.
At the time of writing, the outgoing (ICE) Punch is priced in the range of Rs 5.49 lakh- Rs 8.14 lakh. These may see an upward revision when the facelift arrives.
