In the last couple of weeks, we have seen several videos from a location in Rajasthan where locals and tourists are trying to drive their cars through a flooded section of the road. While everyone understands that this is a dangerous act, they still do it because of the viral nature of the stunt and also for social media fame. Some cars wade through water while others don’t. Here we have one such video where the “Big Daddy of SUVs,” the Mahindra Scorpio N, gets stuck in water while trying to cross, whereas a Tata Harrier.ev crosses the section like a boss.
The video has been shared by AutoXpress India on their Instagram page. In the first part of the video, we see a Mahindra Scorpio N wading through the flooded road. The SUV enters the water at high speed and makes a huge wave in front of it.
In the video, we see the SUV moving through the water without any problem, but it looks like the Scorpio N driver underestimated the depth of the water and started panicking as soon as he saw water entering the cabin.
He probably forgot about the task and slowed down. He either slowed down, or the water entered the air intake and went into the engine of the car. The car started limping, and within no time, it stalled.
The car, driver, and occupants were all stuck in the middle of the flooded road. The car was later recovered using a truck, as there was no way any other vehicle could have helped him since there was always a risk of them getting their vehicle stuck in the same spot.

The Scorpio N seen here is a stock vehicle. If the owner had installed a snorkel, it could have easily crossed the section. Modern car engines have sensors that shut the engine down and lock it to prevent further damage when they detect moisture or water inside.
Hydro-locked engines are actually expensive to repair, and the process takes time too. You cannot drive the car and will have to take it on a flatbed. Never try to do such stunts if you are not confident enough or do not have experience.
In the next part of the video, we see a Tata Harrier.ev SUV slowly entering the same flooded road and wading through the water without any issues.
The electric SUV driver remained calm and didn’t hurry while entering or driving through the water. Even if he had pushed the car hard, it wouldn’t have caused much damage, as it is an electric vehicle.
Unlike the Scorpio N, the Harrier.ev doesn’t have any engine or air intake. It doesn’t require air to burn fuel. It is powered by an electric motor that draws power from a battery pack installed under the floor of the car. It is because of this reason that the Harrier.ev managed to cross the waterlogged road without any drama.
