The speeding Pune Porsche Taycan crash case related to three people has recently been granted bail by the Supreme Court of India. These three people, including the builder father of the boy who crashed the Porsche and killed two techies, were accused of evidence tampering following the commencement of the investigation in this case.
The Supreme Court of India has also granted bail to the father of the second back-seat passenger as well. Lastly, the third person to receive bail is an assistant to the doctor who examined the medical evidence and allegedly played a key role in swapping blood samples. As per the investigators, Rs 3 lakh was paid to the medical staff to swap the blood sample of the juvenile driver.

This particular blood sample swap was done to erase the proof of alcohol consumption by Vedant Agarwal, son of builder Vishal Agarwal, who was behind the steering wheel of the Porsche Taycan on the night of May 19, 2024. The doctor's assistant who swapped the blood sample accepted the bribe and facilitated the manipulation of forensic records.
The bench comprising Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan ordered that the accused be produced before the trial court, following which the court ruled that they may be granted bail subject to strict conditions. Also, the court warned that the accused must not misuse their liberty and that any violation of bail conditions will result in cancellation of bail.

During the bail granting process, the Supreme Court of India made scathing remarks on the role of parents in such cases. Justice Nagarathna stated that it was deeply saddening how irresponsible parents provide high-speed luxury cars to minors, along with unrestricted access to money, alcohol, and drugs. The court added that celebration does not mean substance abuse or reckless driving.
Justice Nagarathna also highlighted a larger social issue by stating that parents substitute parenting with ATM cards and mobile phones. He added that parents often fail to spend time with their children. Additionally, he added that often innocent people sleep and commute on roads, and this is not the first time that such privileged recklessness has killed innocents.

For those who may not remember, back on May 19, 2024, in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, Maharashtra, a 17-year-old boy named Vedant Agarwal, son of builder Vishal Agarwal, crashed his father’s Porsche Taycan electric sports sedan at a speed of 200 kmph into a motorcycle on which two IT professionals, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, were riding.
As the crash took place at such a high speed, both of the victims died on the spot. At the time of the accident, the Porsche Taycan worth Rs 2.4 crore was unregistered and was being driven by heavily intoxicated Vedant Agarwal. Following the crash, the minor boy was beaten by passersby and was handed over to the police authorities.
Following which, he was granted bail shortly after the crash. What made it to the headlines was the fact that one of his bail conditions was to write a 300-word essay on road safety. Due to this, massive protests took place and the public became extremely angry.
