Toyota is yet to launch the new-generation Fortuner in India. However, there is someone who has already got themselves the upcoming new-generation model even before its official launch in the country. Now, you may be wondering how that is possible. Well, recently, a video has gone viral online which shows the latest-generation Fortuner, and it is shocking everyone.
The video showing this new-generation Fortuner in India before the official launch has been shared on Instagram by PRV Automobiles Jalandhar on their page. It starts off with the presenter stating that those wondering if it's the upcoming-generation Fortuner are mistaken. He explains that this is actually an older model which has been converted into the latest-generation model.
Soon after this, the presenter states that this actually is a first-in-India conversion of the old-generation Fortuner into the upcoming-generation model. The video then shows the completely changed front fascia of this Fortuner. We can note that this particular SUV has been fitted with an imported aftermarket body kit.

We can note that the front fascia has been changed. As for the parts, it can be seen that the bonnet, front grille, front bumper, and the front fenders have been changed. Additionally, the main highlight of this conversion is the front LED headlights with single projector units and C-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper also houses the LED fog lights and a massive silver skid plate.
It has to be highlighted again that this is not an aftermarket kit which has been custom-built. Instead, it is the exact same design as the upcoming generation of the Fortuner. Toyota has actually launched the new-generation Hilux in the international market, and it will use a similar fascia for the Fortuner as well. As a result, aftermarket kit manufacturers have already started making these conversion kits for old Hilux and Fortuner models.
Apart from the new-generation front kit, the video shows that the rear end of this Fortuner has also been changed. It has been given a new and more aggressive bumper and a set of connected aftermarket LED taillights. Most likely, no changes have been made to the interior of this Fortuner, as it has not been shown in the video.
The same page has also shared a few other videos in which the current-generation Hilux has also been modified with this aftermarket body kit. In the video, the presenter shows the Hilux with the new front fascia of the internationally launched model. He mentions that it is also a first-in-India project.

Although the above-shown Fortuner is not the actual new-generation Fortuner, we have seen test mule spy images of the upcoming model. These test mules have shown that the new model will boast the same front-end changes as the vehicle above. However, the new model will also be getting a newer rear-end design as well, with new LED taillights and a rear bumper.
Also, the new-generation Fortuner will be getting a completely new interior design as well. It is expected to get a completely new and more modern dashboard and cabin layout with premium materials. Most likely, we will be seeing a massive 12.3-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument gauge, and a new Land Cruiser FJ- and Prado-inspired steering wheel.

Other notable highlights could include ventilated and powered front seats, a new centre console, more physical buttons, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a premium audio system, and a ton of other modern creature-comfort features.

As for the powertrain side of things, the new-generation model will most likely continue to offer the same time-tested 2.8-litre diesel engine, which makes 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. This engine will get a mild-hybrid system as well. Meanwhile, the other engine option will be the 2.7-litre petrol engine. Lastly, there are reports which have highlighted that the Fortuner could get a 2.4-litre petrol strong-hybrid powertrain as well. It is believed that the new-generation Fortuner could make its debut by the end of 2026 or by early 2027.
