In early October, Nissan revealed its next big product for the Indian market- the Tekton mid-size SUV. Expected to launch in mid-2026, it will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta here. We saw the SUV in a series of images captured in the ‘Dark Cave’ theatre at Nissan's new facility in Atsugi, Japan. It looked quite appealing in these studio shots. A YouTube channel has now come up with an AI-generated video that intends to show the road presence of thiis design.
Shared on the channel Turbo Vs GT (IND), this video shows the Tekton moving through the middle lane of what looks like a three-lane Indian highway. Several trucks, common sights on most Indian roads, can also be seen. Interestingly, the SUV seems to be driving in a direction opposite to that of the regular traffic flow. This is a common mistake in many AI-generated videos.
The SUV in these visuals, retains all the design details of the one shown in Japan. You can see the full-width LED light bar, and large grille. The latter, however, is dark. It is hard to guess its details.

We can see how the sculpted, squared-off bonnet, bold bumper, upright stance and the full-width Chrome-clad horizontal lines that sit at the centre of the front fascia, add to the vehicle’s overall road presence. It seems to be taller and wider than the Creta that currently dominates the C-SUV segment. This video has definitely given us some early perspective...
In recent sightings, we have seen how the test mules of this SUV feel on public roads. When parked alongside a Creta, it felt bigger and seemed to have a bolder stance. Nissan hasn’t revealed the actual dimensions yet.

The Tekton will be underpinned by the CMF-B platform, jointly developed by Nissan and Renault. The carmaker hasn’t revealed the interior design or feature list of this vehicle. The cabin will look modern and will see the use of a lot of premium trims and materials.
The SUV will come equipped with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six-speaker premium audio, a 7-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a push start/stop button, keyless entry, electrically foldable and operable ORVMs, Type-C charging ports, level 2 ADAS, and a 360-degree camera. Safety features like six airbags, ESP, ABS, and hill start assist are also to be expected.
As obvious, the Tekton will be Nissan’s version of the upcoming third-generation Renault Duster. The twi SUVs will share their engine and transmission options. Two petrol engines are expected at launch- 1.3L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol (EDC) and 1.2L 48V mild-hybrid petrol.

The former will be capable of producing 154 PS and 250 Nm, and will come with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is in fact, the same engine that was offered on the previous Terrano sold here. The mild-hybrid, on the other hand, will make 131 PS and 230 Nm. Nissan is likely to introduce a strong hybrid petrol powertrain in the future. Time remains before we learn the specifics of this setup.

When launched, the Tekton will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan factory in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Being the second product under Nissan’s ‘One Car, One World’ strategy, it will help in increasing plant utilisation and stretch production numbers. There will be a strong focus on exports as well. The company also has plans to launch a seven-seater based on the Tekton in the future.
