The Tata Sierra has been an iconic SUV, and in 2025, Tata brought the name and brand back to the market. While we are all happy that Tata decided to revive the Sierra, the next question many people are asking is which brand Tata might resurrect next. One name that we are hearing a lot on the internet is the Sumo. It was an iconic people mover, and at the moment, Tata doesn’t have any model in this segment. Here we have a set of rendered images that show how a modern-day or next-generation Tata Sumo might look.
The images have been shared by Dipayan Ray on his X profile. He has reimagined the Sumo in a new avatar. The social media user has probably used AI tools to design or reimagine the new Sumo.
Coming to the Sumo render, the artist has used the boxy design of the original Sumo. In fact, we assume that he uploaded an image of the original Sumo and asked AI to convert it into a modern-day SUV. The boxy design of the Sumo is retained, and we see changes in the front fascia.
Like most modern Tata cars, the front gets a sleek LED welcome bar that runs across the width of the MUV. The front grille design is also different, and we see an illuminated Tata logo on the grille. The split headlamp setup can also be seen on the Sumo render.
Moving down, we see a black bumper that gives it a rugged, utilitarian look, with a silver faux skid plate and red tow hooks. Coming to the side profile, we notice squared wheel arches with thick cladding around them. The alloy wheel design is new, and there is a side step to make it easier to get in and out of the MUV.

The large windows fill up the side profile of the MUV, and the pull-type door handles add character to the car. At the rear, we get a vertically designed tailgate, similar to what we have seen on the Sierra. The tail lamps are all-new and feature a vertically stacked design with LED elements. There is a connecting LED bar that runs across the width of the Sumo, along with large “Sumo” branding on the tailgate.
Just like the Sierra, the render does not show the tailgate-mounted spare wheel that was present on the original Sumo. The render also showcases a modern cabin with a four-spoke steering wheel, a rotary knob-type gear selector, a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, seat ventilation, and more. The Sumo might use the same set of petrol and diesel engine options as the new Sierra.
It should be noted that Tata currently has no plans to bring back the Sumo, and they have confirmed the same during a recent interview. However, the possibility cannot be ruled out completely. In the future, if Tata feels there is demand for an MUV like the Sumo, they might consider bringing it back.
