As we all are aware of the fact that any type of modification done on a car, whether it is an aesthetic mod or a performance modification, is illegal in India. But most of the time, people get away with their modified cars. However, when people with modified cars do stupid acts, they get fined massively. Recently, a modified Honda City owner was fined Rs 1.1 lakh for shooting flames from the exhaust on a public road.
The video showing this before-and-after effect of performing stupid stunts on a public road has been shared on X by BLR City Traffic Police on their official page. This short clip starts off with a modified first-generation Honda City parked on the side of the road. It can be noted that the entire vehicle has been fully modified.
It has been given an aftermarket body color with unique graphics, a massive rear wing, unique alloy wheels, and fully blacked-out window tints. What happens next in the video is that the driver of this modified Swift starts revving the engine. As a result of this, we can note that this sedan starts shooting flames and becomes excessively loud. It became so loud that everyone around it had to put their fingers in their ears.

The Bangalore Traffic Police, in its post, highlighted, “Public roads are not the place to perform stunts. It is illegal to modify your vehicle's exhaust to create sparks or fire. Remember, you will have to pay a price for your stunts.” Speaking of the price, the Yelahanka Bangalore Transport Department has levied a fine of one lakh eleven thousand and five hundred rupees on the owner of this Honda City.
Additionally, the official account of the Bangalore Traffic Police has also shared another image in which the same Honda City has been seized, and a police officer was standing next to it. Now, whether this fine has been paid by the owner of this particular car has not been mentioned.

As stated above, driving an illegally modified vehicle on Indian roads is already a very risky move. Each and every time a driver drives through a police checkpoint, there is a high chance they might get stopped for questioning and then might be handed a fine.
So, when a modified car owner does stunts on public roads, where a ton of people can record a video of their car, the chances of coming under the radar of the police become a lot more. Also, even if the vehicle is not modified, stunts should only be performed in closed spaces where there is no chance of pedestrian injury or damage to any other vehicle.

A lot of people who modify their cars with aftermarket exhausts also opt for a flame tune. With this tune, the fuel system of the vehicle dumps more fuel into the combustion chamber of the engine, following which the same extra fuel comes out of the exhaust, and the high temperature and airflow of the exhaust cause it to become a fireball. This is especially more commonly seen on Honda City, Civic, and last-generation Sonata models.
