It is common to see large companies and corporates reward their employees with gifts and hampers on Diwali. In the past few years, we have seen these get more expensive. Last year, we even saw a Pharma company from Haryana gift its employees 15 Tata Punch SUVs. This year, the same company has made headlines again by giving 51 cars as Diwali gifts! A video of some of its employees receiving keys to their brand-new cars has now surfaced online.
Panchkula-based Mits Healthcase chose to make its employees super-happy this year by gifting them cars. Mits employees got brand-new Kia Sonets this time. In the above video, M.K. Bhatia, the social worker and entrepreneur who owns and runs Mits Healthcare, is seen handing over the keys to his employees. A Mahindra XEV 9e electric SUV is seen parked nearby. This is, however, not a part of the cars issued.
The report by Dainik Bhaskar also mentions that the cars received varied based on the employee’s seniority level and job roles. We haven’t been able to verify this claim, though. After receiving them, Mits employees drove in a huge convoy to the Mits house, Bhatia’s office headquarters. This attracted a lot of public attention. Many praised the entrepreneur’s thoughtful gesture.
A video shared on the YouTube channel 'Rozana Spokesman' gives us further details of this gifting spree. In this clip, we can see the cars that have actually reached these employees- a fleet of Kia Sonets, finished in different colours, lined up at a dealer facility.
Some 5-6 vehicles can be seen here. A few more are said to be parked nearby and not shown on video. The host says he’s been told that the remaining vehicles will get delivered soon to the respective employees.
The host then interacts with Bhatia seeking more details and information. The entrepreneur admits that some of his employees who have now received their new Kia cars, are the same as those who got gifted Tata Punch SUVs last year. Many of them have been with the company for long. He also mentions that the cars of freshers will get delivered soon.

The company has purchased these Sonets on finance. It has paid the down payment, and EMIs will be deducted from the employees’ salaries. Now, how is that a Diwali gift, you ask?
Well, Bhatia explains that the employees will receive a salary appreciation the next day after they receive their cars. Their salaries will see the addition of a sum that combines the EMI amount and an additional Rs 2500 in fuel allowance. Insurance will also be provided by the company. Thus, the employee will have to pay nothing for taking the car home. The best part? These vehicles are expected to be registered in the individual’s name, and not under Mits Healthcare!

The biggest advantage should be the good press and attention that these expensive Diwali gifts bring to the table. Due to its unusual-yet-pleasing nature, this gesture gets a lot of people talking, eventually leading to them appreciating the business and the entrepreneur. This, in a way, adds to the brand’s goodwill.
More importantly, more people get interested in working with the company. As Bhatia himself reveals in the video, gifting 15 Tata Punch SUVs led to over 160 colleges from across India getting in touch with his company for providing placements to their students. These, in the larger picture, will benefit the company and contribute to its growth. And finally, these gifts, in a way, help retain employees!
