No matter how many times people are warned about driving their cars on beaches, they still tend to do this dangerous activity. Unfortunately, most of the time, these people and their cars end up getting stuck on the beach. Once again, we have an incident from Surat, Gujarat, in which a Mercedes-Benz C-Class driven by an 18-year-old driver got stuck in the water. It then had to be rescued using a crane.
The video showing the rescue of this Mercedes-Benz C-Class from the water has been shared on X by Gujarat Samachar on their page. As per the reports, this particular incident took place at Dumas Beach in Surat, Gujarat. In the clip, we can note that there is a crane with its arm completely extended towards the water.

On the other end, a man can be seen standing beside the submerged Mercedes-Benz sedan, which was completely strapped. After this, the crane then starts pulling out the Mercedes-Benz from the water; meanwhile, the man was seen holding the strap and the car to give it direction. There were a few people on the beach as well who were watching this rescue mission.
It has been reported that an 18-year-old driver named Shehjan Salim was behind the wheel of this Mercedes-Benz C-Class at the time it was being driven on the beach. As per the locals, the driver was warned not to go near the water. However, he chose to ignore the warning and then got stuck in the water.

Some sources have also highlighted that the driver of this Mercedes-Benz has been arrested by the police authorities. Additionally, the police have stated that they will be submitting their report to the insurance company so that any claim made by the owner can be rejected.
When it comes to damages, flood damage is one of the worst nightmares for anyone, especially when the vehicle gets submerged in seawater. For those who may not be aware, seawater enhances corrosion and causes most of the sensitive electrical items to fail. If the vehicle gets fully submerged, it tends to need a complete replacement of the wiring harness.

Apart from this, the engine also gets damaged and hydrolocked due to exposure to water. What happens in a hydrolock is that water enters the engine’s combustion chamber, and as water is non-combustible, it bends the connecting rods, cracks the pistons, and also destroys the crankshaft.
Due to this, the vehicle becomes useless and needs either a complete engine overhaul or a complete replacement. It is beleived that a complete repair of this vehicle might cost around Rs 10-12 lakh which is currently the market value of this car.
As stated above, this is not the first time that we have seen something like this take place. Earlier in July of this year, another vehicle at Dumas Beach—more specifically, a Mercedes-Benz GLE—got stuck in the sand. All the attempts to pull it out failed, and the owner of the vehicle, along with other occupants, was left stranded.
In the beginning, the Mercedes-Benz SUV was stuck in the sand. However, as the tides became higher, the vehicle started getting submerged. The owner and the passenger of this SUV were seen standing next to the vehicle while it was getting submerged.
