A lot of people in India drive their cars with more occupants than its capacity. This adjustment is done in most rural areas to fit as many people inside a car as possible. However, sometimes such cars are stopped by the authorities and checked. Recently, one such Maruti Suzuki Swift was stopped at a police checkpoint, and it was noted that a man was sleeping in the boot of this car as there was no more space in the main cabin.
This funny video of a man sleeping in the boot of a Maruti Suzuki Swift has been shared on Instagram by Zeednh News on their page. In this short clip, what happens is that a red-colored Swift hatchback with “DL” registration was stopped by the authorities at a police checkpoint. Soon after this, we can note that occupants started coming out of the car.
There were three men and a woman who came out of the car, and another woman with a young child was sitting in the rear seat. The video then shows that one of the passengers opens the tailgate of the Swift and shocks everyone, as there was a man wearing a suit who was lying down with his eyes closed.
What happens next is that the other occupants start smiling, and one of them mentions that he is their cousin and he is sleeping. The woman outside the car says, “Why are you sleeping?” We can then note that the man in the boot was wearing earphones and was sleeping while listening to songs. As for the police officers, they were also shocked and were smiling at the situation.
It should not be a question as to why any person should not be occupying the boot of any car. However, if someone is unsure why, the answer is that it is extremely dangerous. As we all know the traffic conditions and driving patterns of drivers on Indian roads, if in case a rear-end accident takes place, most likely the person in the boot will die.
Additionally, the boot space is only intended to be used as storage for luggage, and carrying people in it is illegal. Now, in this particular case, everyone was laughing. However, in reality, the driver or the owner of the car can be fined heavily for this stupid act. On most occasions, such an act can be considered kidnapping as well.
The above video is not the first time that we have seen something like this happen. Last year, another video became viral online. In this short clip, a seemingly normal Maruti Suzuki Dzire TourS cab was seen driving on a road with heavy traffic. What happens next is that the driver of this sedan opened the boot.
Initially, nothing seemed to be surprising. However, after driving slightly ahead with the boot open, it was noted that the driver midway came back and opened it, and to the surprise of people sitting in the car behind, a man was seen sleeping in the boot of this sedan. This particular man had a blanket on and was very comfortably sleeping in the car while the driver was talking to him.
