The new Tata Sierra created a huge buzz when it launched on November 25, 2025. The product generated massive interest, and the internet soon got flooded with content about it. Interestingly, even ministers and celebrities have become fans of the Sierra. KB Ganesh Kumar, Kerala’s transport minister, recently took delivery of the state’s first Sierra at an event held in Gokulam Grand Resort, Kumarakom. A video of the same has now surfaced.
Minister Ganesh Kumar took delivery of the new Sierra from Sree Gokulam Motors, a prominent Tata dealer in Kerala. In the video shared on the dealership’s official Instagram handle, we see the minister arriving at Gokulam Grand resort in his official car- a Toyota Innova Crysta (state car number 7). An escort car is seen accompanying him. The brand-new Sierra is kept covered at the venue.

The minister is received warmly by Tata officials and the resort’s management. He also has his two sons with him. Later, we see the minister having warm conversations with the brand’s personnel and completing the paperwork. He then cuts a cake and celebrates the purchase. The car is then unveiled, and the minister drives it out of the pavilion.
Later in the video, we see him talking about the purchase experience. Sierra deliveries started commencing on January 15th. Ganesh Kumar was the first person from Kerala to get the SUV delivered. He says that at the time of filming, Sierra deliveries hadn’t started commencing in the state, and even thanks Gokulam Motors for acting proactively and getting him Kerala’s first Sierra delivered, without any delays or confusions.

The minister test-drove the new Sierra early this month. He had shared a video online, explaining his experience with the SUV and how much he loved it. In that video, we also heard him saying that he had booked a Sierra in the Andaman Adventure (yellow) colour. The Sierra looks great in the delivery video. We also see the minister driving it on public roads and getting much attention.
KB Ganesh Kumar is also an actor and television host. Back in the day, he used to own the original Sierra. It had the registration number ‘KL 01 D 1’, as he is based out of Trivandrum, the state capital. The new Sierra, as can be seen in the delivery video, doesn’t have a number plate. He may opt for a VIP number for this vehicle as well.
Circling back, Ganesh Kumar had driven the original Sierra extensively and still cherishes the ownership experience. The new design, the long list of features, and the massive boost in occupant comfort have all impressed him. On video, he also talked about how impressive the Sierra’s level 2+ ADAS system is and how Tata Motors has ‘democratised’ the technology.

The new Sierra offers three engine options- a 1.5L direct injection turbocharged petrol (TGDi), 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5L turbo-diesel. It remains unclear which of these has reached the minister’s garage. Considering how he had test-driven the turbo-petrol previously, it is safe to assume that he may have opted for the same.
This engine is the most powerful of the lot and produces 158 hp and 255 Nm. The turbo-petrol Sierra is quite fast and comes only with a six-speed automatic transmission alone. It can do the 0-100kph sprint in under 10 seconds and has a top speed of 190kph.
