Today, the Chief Ministers of all states are required to drive around in heavily secured convoys in bulletproof cars. However, many of these CMs started their political careers with humble cars. Recently, the CM of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, shared images on his official account in which he was seen posing with his beloved, bulletproof Hindustan Ambassador, which he mentioned helped bring him closer to his people when he used to travel across the state. This Ambassador is similar to the bulletproof Ambassador that saved his life in 2003, when Naxals attacked the car using a landmine near Alipiri, Tirupati.
These images have been shared by the Andhra Pradesh CM’s official Instagram handle, ncbn.official. In the image, we can note that Naidu is standing next to his white-colored Hindustan Ambassador with the registration number “AP 09 G 393.” There is another picture of him with the vehicle in which he is seen checking out the interior of his sedan.

In the caption of this post, Chandrababu Naidu highlights that he met his old companion today, which is his 393 Ambassador. He added that this particular vehicle is very special because it was the one that helped him travel across the state of Andhra Pradesh and brought him closer to his people.
The post also added, “Whatever we drive, our vehicles are more than just miles traveled; they carry memories that shaped our journey.” Concluding the caption, a question was asked by the Andhra Pradesh CM: “Do you have such a companion from your own journey? What's your story?”

Chandrababu Naidu is not the only politician who still owns a Hindustan Ambassador. Recently, during the Ayudha Pooja procession, former Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa was also seen performing Hindu rituals in front of his Hindustan Ambassador.
In a video shared online, B. Y. Raghavendra, who is the son of B. S. Yediyurappa and a Member of the Lok Sabha, was seen guiding his father to their family's Hindustan Ambassador sedan. This white-colored sedan was decorated with a garland, and B. Y. Raghavendra was seen completing the Ayudha Pooja procession with a coconut in his hand.

The Hindustan Ambassador is, hands down, one of the most iconic cars to ever exist in India. It was extremely popular among politicians across the country, especially those living in Delhi. It became so popular in India because it was the first car ever produced in the country. The Ambassador was produced in 1958 at the Uttarpara plant in West Bengal.
Soon after its launch, it received the title of “King of Indian Roads.” The Hindustan Ambassador was offered with a number of different engine options, including 1.5-litre diesel, 2.0-litre diesel, and 1.8-litre petrol. There were some variants that were also turbocharged as well. Even today, a number of collectors have kept their Ambassadors after restoring them to look brand-new.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin, is also one of the politicians who still owns his old car. His particular car is a Fiat 1100 sedan, and over the last few years, he has been seen driving it on a few occasions on public roads. He is heavily guarded and surrounded by security cars while driving his Fiat 1100.
