In India, rich businessmen and celebrities often lead a lavish lifestyle, and expensive cars are a part of this lifestyle. Most billionaire businessmen in India opt for foreign car brands, and we have featured them on our website too. Motilal Oswal, founder, chairman, and managing director of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd., is an exception. Last year, he bought a Tata Safari facelift and had promised that he would stop buying foreign cars. Instead, he would buy world-class Indian products. He kept his word, and now, after Tata, he has bought a Mahindra XUV700.
Motilal Oswal shared this news on his official X profile with the caption, “I’m fully Desi now -no more foreign luxuries! Proud to use mostly Indian products. As I mentioned earlier, my next favourite car - Mahindra. #VocalForLocal @anandmahindra @anishshah21 @MotilalOswalLtd.”
In the image shared online, we see Motilal Oswal’s brand-new XUV700 parked in his parking lot. The SUV is finished in the Dazzling Silver shade, and it looks like the billionaire businessman went with the top-end variant. He even shared the image of the older post where he is seen taking delivery of his new Tata Safari SUV.
The XUV700 is one of the blockbuster models from Mahindra in their lineup. It was launched back in 2021, and since then, it has received an overwhelming response from buyers. It was, in fact, the first car from an Indian brand to offer Level 2 ADAS, along with many other features. It is, in fact, the XUV700 that made Level 2 ADAS a trend in the market. Even today, it is a feature-loaded SUV and one of the most technologically advanced vehicles from Mahindra.
We are assuming that Motilal Oswal went with the top-end variant of the XUV700. It comes with features like a 12-speaker sound system, ventilated front seats, a 6-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, dual-zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), and more. Mahindra is also the only brand in this segment that offers an AWD feature as an option in the top-end AX7 L variant (diesel only).
Mahindra offers the XUV700 with both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel version uses a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged engine that is available in two states of tune. The lower variants generate 152 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque, while the higher variant generates 182 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque.
The petrol version of the XUV700 is powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion series turbocharged engine that generates 197 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol and diesel engine options are available with manual and automatic transmissions. Motilal Oswal has bought the petrol version, and it is evident from the blue sticker on the front windshield.
Prices for the Mahindra XUV700 start at Rs 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom) and go all the way up to Rs 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom). Mahindra is also working on a facelift for the XUV700, as it has been in the market for some time. The test mules have been spotted several times, and the launch is expected to happen soon.
