A lot of people in Goa use a ferry to take their cars from one place to another. Mostly, cars and two-wheelers get on and off a ferry very easily. However, recently an incident was reported in which a Ford Figo, while coming out of a ferry in Bicholim, plunged into the water. Thankfully, the driver of this particular car was saved by a brave sailor who jumped into the water and helped the man escape.
The video showing the Ford Figo being rescued from the water has been shared on X by Goa9 on their page. In this video, we can note that there were a number of people holding a rope and pulling the car out of the water. On the other end, there was a boat and a few people who were also in the water helping to bring out the submerged Ford Figo.

Following this, when the people standing outside could not pull the car on their own, the rope was tied to a firetruck, which then continued pulling the car out of the water. Soon after this, we can note that the car was completely taken out of the water, and a number of local people surrounded the spot and were looking at this rescue mission.
This particular video has been shared from Goa. Specifically, this incident took place at the Sarmanas Ferry Point on the Sarmanas-Tonca route in Bicholim, Goa. As for the time, it happened around 4:30 PM. According to reports, there were a total of six two-wheelers and two four-wheelers, including this Ford Figo, on the ferry.

During disembarking from the ferry, the driver of this hatchback, Tipu Bharpet, was reversing his car to leave. However, suddenly a person on a two-wheeler appeared behind his car. Due to this, the driver suddenly braked, and in the process, he lost control of the vehicle, which then slipped off the ferry ramp into the river.
What happened after that was that when the car plunged into the water, Bharpet tried to escape from it by trying to open the door. However, at this point, his hand got trapped, which prevented him from escaping the vehicle. Thankfully, a brave sailor from the ferry Dharbandora, Nagesh Phadte, immediately jumped into the water, swam to the car, and then freed Bharpet’s hand.
Soon after this, Phadte realized that Bharpet did not know how to swim. So he held on to him until another person from the ferry threw a lifebuoy to help. Following this, using the support from the lifebuoy, Phadte swam with Bharpet to the shallow side of the water and saved his life.

After this happened, fire and other emergency services were called to the spot. With the assistance of local people, the Ford Figo was rescued from the river. Thankfully, no other person was injured in this accident. Vikramsinh Rajebhosle, Director of the River Navigation Department, commended the ferry crew and the passengers for helping Bharpet. He stated that this quick response and teamwork were what saved the life of the car driver.
We hope that you never get stuck in any similar situation where your car gets plunged in water. However, if in any case you find yourself in a car that is in water, the first thing that you have to do is try to calm down. After this you have immediately unbuckle your seatbelt and then try to open the window if the water has not reached door level.
If you are unable to do so, quickly remove the headrest of the vehicle and try to break the side windows. Make sure that you do not try to break the windshield as it is made out of laminated glass and that is very tough to break. So after you break the side window, immediately come out of it. Do not try to open the door in water as the pressure from outside will be very high and it will not let you open the door.
