One can never guess what they might see on Indian roads on a random evening. In our country, where electric cars are being pushed so heavily, every once in a while a video is shared online that makes us laugh at electric cars. Recently, one such video was shared online from Alwar, Rajasthan, where a Tata Nexon with a dead battery was seen being pulled by an e-rickshaw.
The video showing a scrawny e-rickshaw pulling a heavy Tata Nexon EV was shared on X by News24 on their page. In this short clip, we can note that a white-colored previous-generation Tata Nexon EV was being pulled by an e-rickshaw on a busy road. There were two people in the e-rickshaw, and a driver was sitting inside the Nexon EV.
As per reports, this particular incident took place at Jyoti Rao Phule Circle in Alwar, Rajasthan. The owner of this Tata Nexon EV is Subhash Agarwal, who is a resident of the Kala Kuan area in Alwar. It has been mentioned that Agarwal was driving towards his home when the battery of his previous-generation Tata Nexon EV got completely drained.

After that, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road, causing a brief traffic jam at the busy circle. Soon after, the owner noted that there were no EV chargers nearby and no towing assistance was immediately available. So, after he spotted an e-rickshaw, he asked its driver to help tow his car to his home.
The e-rickshaw driver agreed, and using a rope, the Tata Nexon EV was tied to the battery-powered rickshaw. Soon after, the e-rickshaw towed the dead Tata Nexon EV to Agarwal’s home. The vehicle was most likely then plugged into the home charger, which most EV owners have at home.
A number of netizens and media outlets have shared this incident, and it has now gone viral. In this particular post, many people have laughed at the situation and left funny comments. One of the netizens stated, “This is the real Make in India Swagger—an electric car being pulled by a poor man’s e-rickshaw, but trust is still on the e-rickshaw.”
The above video is not the first time that a new car has been seen being pulled by an e-rickshaw. A while ago, a video was shared online in which an e-rickshaw was seen pulling a Tata Safari on the side of a road. It was noted that this particular Safari had broken down, and a small e-rickshaw was pulling it without any issues.

From the above incident in which the Tata Nexon EV was being towed by an e-rickshaw, we can learn a few simple lessons. The first is that one should never try to drive an electric vehicle when it is at a very low battery level. There is always uncertainty about the range of an electric vehicle once the battery reaches very close to complete depletion.
Also, one of the biggest issues in India is that despite the increase in the number and availability of charging stations, there are still not enough. Additionally, even if chargers are available, it takes time for an electric vehicle to charge. So, it is advised that before going out on the road, EV owners should check whether they have enough battery for their travel or not.
