The popular luxury used car dealership Big Boy Toyz recently launched its Auction House by Big Boy Toyz. It has been positioned as India's first premium auction house for high-value luxury collectibles. At the launch of this event, Big Boy Toyz managed to make it to the headlines because of the sale of India's most expensive number plate, “DDC 001,” which sold for Rs 2.08 crore.
Making the launch of Auction House by Big Boy Toyz memorable, the vintage number plate “DDC 001,” which was owned by the owner of BBT, Jatin Ahuja, was sold for Rs 2.08 crore. This number plate is the most expensive number sold in an auction in India. The winning bid was placed by Kiran Kolpakula from Gutur, Andhra Pradesh.
Commenting on the sale of this number, Jatin Ahuja, Founder and Managing Director, Big Boy Toyz, stated, “For nearly two decades, Big Boy Toyz has been built on one simple promise: trust. People have trusted us with the most valuable cars in the country. Over the years, we’ve built deep relationships with India’s most elite collectors and industry leaders, consistently operating within the inner circle of luxury. That credibility is what naturally led to the Auction House.”
He added, “When you’re dealing with assets of this value, transparency and verification matter more than anything else. The ₹2.08 crore auction of DDC 0001 reinforced that collectors are ready for a platform they can believe in, no matter where they come from. Auction House by Big Boy Toyz is our way of extending that trust into a broader world of luxury collectibles, with global standards but a very Indian understanding of how people buy and sell.”
Currently, Auction House by Big Boy Toyz has a few notable luxury cars on sale. These include cricketer Dinesh Karthik’s Range Rover Sport SVR, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, and, lastly, popular Bollywood movie director Rohit Shetty's Mercedes-Benz CLA 200d. Additionally, there are luxury watches, including a Rolex Daytona with Tiffany dial and a Hublot King Gold Skeleton Chronograph.
As for the number plates, currently, the Auction House has “CHE78” and “HR59 0001” for sale. Also, rare mobile phone numbers “999999999X” and “888888888X” are available for sale. Big Boy Toyz aims to build India's equivalent of RM Sotheby’s auction house, which, for those who may not be aware, is one of the most prestigious auction houses in the world.

The previous most expensive number plate sold in India was “KL 07 DG 0007.” It was bought for Rs 46 lakh by Venu Gopalakrishnan, who is the founder and owner of Litmus7, a popular IT company. He bought this number for his Lamborghini Urus Performante, worth Rs 6.6 crore.

Apart from this number, recently, the VIP registration number “HR 88 B 8888” also came up for auction and was sold for Rs 1.17 crore. However, the winning bidder, named Sudhir Kumar, backed out of the bid, and it was later cancelled. Following this, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij ordered an examination of Sudhir Kumar’s financial background.
