When it comes to car modifications, a lot of people do not take the effort to change the suspension as it is a very labour-intensive and costly mod. However, there are some enthusiasts who go above and beyond and change the suspension of their vehicle to improve its ride quality and also its stance. Recently, one such enthusiast has shared a video of their Skoda Slavia, which is Asia’s first with an active air suspension.
Yes, you read that right. This particular Skoda Slavia is the only Slavia in the entire Asian continent which has been modified with an air suspension. This particular Skoda Slavia is owned by H Azi Muneer. In this short video, we can note the sedan comes into the frame looking like a normally modified Slavia. However, soon after it stops, the front of the vehicle gets lowered and then the rear also gets lowered.
The video then shows that this particular Slavia has been given a set of beautiful-looking aftermarket alloy wheels. From the company, this SUV comes equipped with a set of 16-inch alloy wheels; however, it appears that these are either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black. Apart from the wheels, this particular Slavia has also been given a custom body kit as well.

It includes a pronounced front lip, side skirts, and a custom rear diffuser with a number of canards coming out of it. Additionally, to add to the menacing appearance, this particular Slavia has also been given a set of dual exhaust tips on both ends. Lastly, to tie the entire look together, this Slavia gets a simple lip spoiler on the rear decklid as well.
Now, coming to the main highlight of this particular Skoda Slavia, which is its air suspension setup. For those who may not be aware, air suspension is a type of suspension in which the traditional metal coilovers are replaced with bags that can be inflated and deflated with air. Apart from the airbags, the air suspension setup consists of a number of different components.

These include an air compressor, which generates compressed air and fills the airbags. It usually uses a 12V electric motor, and there are some setups that also use dual compressors for faster operation. There is also an air tank which stores compressed air and allows instant height adjustment without waiting for the compressor.
All of these systems are then attached to the airbags using air lines, and a complete new electrical system is added. The driver has a control panel, usually next to the steering wheel on the dashboard, with which the level of air in the entire system or individual airbags can be controlled.

Now, some people might be wondering why anyone would change the coilovers to air suspension. Well, the answer to this is that air suspension is used to improve the ride quality of vehicles. Air suspension setups, unlike stiff lowering springs, absorb bumps better and offer smoother ride quality.
Air suspension also helps owners with the lowering of their vehicle's height as well. There are many enthusiasts who install air suspension purely for show builds, car meets, and to fit wide wheels and have a tight fender fitment.
