The Ambanis are known for their passion for Rolls-Royce cars. The family already owns several Rolls-Royce models, in India and abroad. On the Diwali eve, Anant Ambani visited the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai, in a car that attracted a lot of attention- a Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII Extended finished in the rare shade of ‘Star of India Orange’. Many noticed the unusual colour choice, and enthusiasts soon started talking about it. This colour is extremely rare, and more importantly, has deep historical connections.
A video shared on the channel CS 12 Vlogs shows the Ambanis’ newest phantom in detail. The Phantom VIII Series II Extended is parked near the temple, waiting for the billionaire to arrive. It has the bodywork finished in ‘Star of India Orange’. A shade of White is seen on the hood. This Phantom has the registration number ‘MH 01 FB 01'.

Anant is then seen coming out of the temple with his entourage. Several security personnel can also be seen in the video. He then gets into the front passenger seat, and the Rolls-Royce drives away. The clip also shows the vehicles used by Anant’s entourage. These include a Range Rover, Toyota Fortuner, Mercedes G Wagens, Mercedes V Class, and MG Gloster. The police are also seen accompanying the convoy in Scorpios and XUV500.
The current generation Phantom, the Phantom VIII, was first launched in 2017. The facelift, called Series II, came in 2022. At its 2017 debut event, a new Phantom, finished in the ‘ Star of India Orange’, was on display. This got many excited.

The carmaker, however, later confirmed that this shade would not be offered as an option on the car. Now, years after this showcasing, the Ambanis seem to have specced their newest Phantom VIII Series II with this bespoke shade!

To begin with, this colour scheme is a nod to the paint scheme used in the 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II commission for the Maharajah of Rajkot, Gujarat. This All Weather Coachwork by done by Thrupp & Maberly, and was called the ‘ Star of India’.
This custom-crafted Phantom II had a seven-seater cabriolet design and was finished in Saffron colour. It was later regarded as a national treasure. It was later sold off by the Maharaja’s grandson. It resurfaced at an auction in Monaco after another four decades. The Maharajah’s grandson then bought it back .
Fast forward to 2025, and we have the reborn ‘Star of India’ in Anant’s garage. The actual price he paid for this car remains unclear. We, however, know that this car would have cost him a lot, due to its iconic bespoke paint and historical connections. The regular Phantom VIII Series II Extended has an ex-showroom price of 10.5 Crores, before options. The bespoke options and paint would have added another chunk to the price.

It is indeed a nod to royal history and a celebration of individuality. Whoever specced this Phantom VIII Extended, indeed, deserves applause! The Ambani family already owns more than 15 Rolls-Royce cars. These include both sedans and SUVs. This collection is already worth crores. The ‘Star Of India’ Phantom has added even more value to it.
The Ambanis’ choice of colours has always fascinated us. While most owners choose their Rolls-Royce cars and SUVs in monotones like White, Grey, and Black, this billionaire family has diverse colours in their garage- from Rose Quartz to various shades of Gold and Blue. Anant has now brought a more historic, classy hue to the collection.
If you’re wondering, the Phantom VIII Series II Extended is powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 (N74B68) that produces 563 bhp and 900 Nm.
